Description

Overview The Division Vice President of Palliative Operations provides operational leadership, strategic direction, and growth oversight for palliative care programs across the enterprise. This role partners closely with hospice and operational leadership to align palliative care strategies with organizational priorities, drive program growth, support high-quality patient care, and ensure operational excellence across assigned markets. The DVP leads a team of Area Vice Presidents of Operations (AVPOs) in a matrixed leadership environment and collaborates with clinical, financial, business development, compliance, and support service leaders to advance integrated care delivery, enhance patient outcomes, and support sustainable program performance. Essential Functions Operational Leadership & Program Oversight Provides divisional oversight of operational systems and performance for palliative care programs while ensuring alignment with national standards and organizational priorities Partners closely with Hospice Vice Presidents of Operations and other partners to align palliative care operations with divisional and organizational priorities Provides leadership, direction, and support to Palliative AVPOs operating within a matrixed reporting structure Collaborates across service lines and support functions including clinical, finance, compliance, human resources, business development, and analytics to support integrated operational performance Holds operational leaders accountable for achieving performance expectations, growth targets, and organizational initiatives Aligns palliative care growth strategies with hospice, home health, and broader post-acute initiatives to strengthen market presence and continuity of care Facilitates communication, accountability, and operational consistency across assigned programs and regions Supports change management initiatives and operational integration efforts across newly developed or acquired markets Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation requirements related to palliative care operations Leads preparation for state licensure reviews, Medicare/Medicaid certifications, and accreditation inspections Coordinates with corporate staff, medical directors, and clinical leadership to maintain survey readiness and policy adherence Implements corporate systems, policies, operational standards, and business plans across assigned programs Revenue Growth & Strategic Partnerships Collaborates with hospice operations and business development leadership to execute market growth strategies and expand access to palliative care services Identifies opportunities to strengthen alignment between palliative and hospice operations to improve patient progression and continuity across the care continuum. Partners with operational leaders to evaluate market performance, referral trends, and strategic growth opportunities Develops and maintains strategic relationships with hospitals, health systems, nursing facilities, physicians, and other healthcare providers Supports contract implementation and care transition processes to ensure effective discharge planning and continuity of care Drives growth initiatives based on corporate business plans, market opportunities, and revenue targets Builds referral pipelines and collaborative partnerships across hospice, home health, and post-acute service lines Establishes ongoing relationships with key stakeholders to support long-term business development objectives Operational & Financial Management Provides operational and financial oversight for assigned palliative care programs, including staffing models, budget performance, productivity, quality outcomes, and operational efficiency Uses operational and financial data to drive strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives Ensures efficient operational workflows and adherence to human resources policies and procedures Monitors business performance metrics and drives operational improvement initiatives Participates in administrative leadership meetings, committees, and organizational projects Patient & Family Services Leadership Supports patient and family-centered care initiatives that enhance experience, engagement, and continuity of care Maintains responsibility for patient-centered care delivery across home, hospital, nursing facility, and community-based settings Serves as the public representative for the organization in the community and supports public relations initiatives Manages resolution of patient, family, and community concerns Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans About You Education: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare, business, or related field may be considered Strong preference for currently licensed Registered Nurse Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience Minimum of 5 years of healthcare industry multi-site leadership experience Previous experience in palliative care, hospice, home health, or post-acute care operations strongly preferred Licenses, Certifications and/or Registration: Valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance required Active, unencumbered RN license in state of residence required if Registered Nurse Equipment/Tools/Work-Aids: Microsoft Excel Microsoft PowerPoint Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems eClinicalWorks preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, state regulations, and accreditation standards related to palliative care operations Demonstrated experience leading healthcare operations, financial performance, and service line growth initiatives Ability to align operational execution with organizational strategy, patient care objectives, and evolving market opportunities Proven ability to lead within a matrixed organizational structure and build credibility quickly across executive, clinical, and operational
