We’re less concerned about titles and more concerned about how each person can be supported to make the greatest impact.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY:</strong></p>\n<p>This entry-level position will work in a survey team.  Position receives day-to-day direction on job assignments and responsibilities from Survey Crew Chief and will be supervised by the Survey Crew Chief on the job site.  Position will work to understand field process(es) and support survey team to complete project work.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Veterans encouraged to apply. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions & Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain and operate GPS and conventional surveying instruments, including performing and/or coordinating routine maintenance on company trucks, ATVs, UTVs and equipment.</li>\n <li>Assist in production of topographic and boundary surveys.</li>\n <li>Learn process of organizing field notes.</li>\n <li>Learn to read construction plans to ensure accurate area to be surveyed.</li>\n <li>Assist in field staking with stable placement.</li>\n <li>Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, rebar, tools, and equipment, etc.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>General survey knowledge related to field process, equipment, and techniques</li>\n <li>Familiarity with construction plans</li>\n <li>Ability and aptitude to interpret and understand plans and specifications</li>\n <li>Effective communication skills</li>\n <li>Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership</li>\n <li>Team oriented and ability to get along with others</li>\n <li>Good math skills (ability to:  add, subtract, multiply, divide)</li>\n <li>Knowledge in MS Office and technical software</li>\n <li>Ability to pass safety and certification classes (including First Aid and CPR) and exhibit safety oriented mentality</li>\n <li>Strong organizational skills</li>\n <li>Knowledge and/or ability to learn survey software/CAD software and Trimble Business Center</li>\n <li>Ability to embrace new technologies and processes</li>\n</ul>\n<p>  </p>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>\n<p>High school diploma or equivalent required. 2-year technical degree preferred. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n<p>0-3 years surveying experience. General understanding of technology and software required.  Survey experience preferred. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Travel Expectations:</strong></p>\n<p>Overnight travel is required.  Survey Technician travels in company vehicle or personal vehicle to project site staying near project site during the work week with expenses paid.  Depending on base location of employee and/or project work, position travels up to 75% of the time.  Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Other Information:</strong></p>\n<p>This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing under the authority of the Federal Railroad Administration.  The selected candidate will be required to pass a DOT FRA drug test as a condition of employment in this position. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The selected applicant will also be required to complete a back-ground check.  An applicant with a confirmed positive test result in the past (or the equivalent) that has not successfully completed all rehabilitation program requirements and follow-up testing requirements is not eligible for this position.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lifting: Occasional maximum lift of 80 lbs. from floor to waist; occasional maximum carry of 40 lbs, 200 feet; frequent maximum carry of 20 lbs. up to 1 mile; occasional maximum vertical push force of 100 lbs.</li>\n <li>Work is primarily outside and will have exposure to extreme weather conditions and nature elements. Will need appropriate clothing for extreme weather conditions.  </li>\n <li>Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, crawl and balance for extended periods of time.</li>\n <li>Position will have extensive walking.</li>\n <li>Must be able to navigate difficult terrain, including un-even surfaces, ditches, steep slopes, etc.</li>\n <li>Must be able to use hands for carrying items, operating devices and/or equipment, and operating ATV vehicle.</li>\n <li>Must be able to lift/carry items (i.e. chainsaws, generators, sledgehammers, jackhammers, hand tools, etc.)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>*Post offer, pre-employment lifting test will be required.</p>\n<p><strong><em> </em></strong></p>\n<p>This job description is not designed to cover or contain a listing of all functions and responsibilities that are required of this position.
