Directly supervises maintenance clerk and maintenance workers.&nbsp;Responsible for duties involving general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, and assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry&nbsp;in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management &amp; Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.</p>\n<p><strong><u>Essential Functions:</u></strong></p>\n<p>1. Conduct regular inspection of buildings, grounds and equipment to ensure proper repair, facility improvement and preventive maintenance in compliance with program requirements and safety/building codes.</p>\n<p>2. Perform maintenance tasks on buildings, grounds and equipment as needed and maintain an effective work order system.</p>\n<p>3. Supervise and evaluate offenders assigned to the department.</p>\n<p>4. Coordinate with other facility staff and departments to determine maintenance needs.</p>\n<p>5. Schedule pest control services.</p>\n<p>6. Prepare and maintain appropriate management records such as equipment inventory and building systems descriptions.</p>\n<p>7. Develop and ensure adherence to the facility preventive maintenance plans.</p>\n<p>8. Maintain all preventative maintenance records, repair records, and prepare reports with pertinent information required for contractual compliance.</p>\n<p>9. Maintain facility in accordance with ACA standards and all federal, state, and local safety and health laws.</p>\n<p>10. Oversee the vehicle fleet is in safe operational condition and maintenance schedules are followed.</p>\n<p>11. Coordinate with the deputy warden for all outsourced repairs.</p>\n<p>12. Oversee work performed by outside vendors.</p>\n<p>13. Train, supervise and evaluate inmates assigned to the department.</p>\n<p>14. Oversee the count of control items assigned to staff including tool carts or tool bags, or other control items</p>\n<p>required to be secured before and after use.</p>\n<p>15. Ability to perform the physical function of the position which includes but is not limited to; ability to walk properties, climb stairs, climb ladders, use power tools and/or hand tools, lift, squat, bend, sit, stand, or kneel for long periods of time.</p>\n<p>It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.</p>\n<p><strong>Education and Experience Requirements:</strong></p>\n<p>High school diploma or equivalent, and five (5)&nbsp;years’ experience&nbsp;in buildings, grounds, and equipment maintenance, three (3) of which must be in a supervisory capacity required.
