    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><link href=\"https://static.workforcenow.adp.com/mas/mdf-components/23.18.17/styles/froala_editor.pkgd.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: georgia, serif;\"><link href=\"https://static.workforcenow.adp.com/mas/mdf-components/23.18.17/styles/froala_style.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\"></span><div class=\"fr-view\"><div><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: georgia, serif;\"><link href=\"https://static.workforcenow.adp.com/mas/mdf-components/22.39.8/styles/froala_editor.pkgd.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\"></span><span style=\"color: rgb(64, 64, 64); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 16px; font-family: georgia, serif;\">The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a Full Time <strong>Mechanic&nbsp;</strong>in our Maintenance Shop Department.</span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: georgia, serif;\">&nbsp;</span><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: georgia, serif;\"><br>This position is to perform skilled and semi-skilled repairs and maintenance of automobiles, light and heavy-duty trucks and other gasoline and diesel equipment.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>The following duties are normal for this position.</strong> <strong>These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.</strong> <strong>Other duties may be required and assigned.</strong>&nbsp;<br><br>Performs skilled maintenance work including the repair, adjustment, and maintenance of motor vehicles and gasoline and diesel-powered construction equipment; changes oil, filters, and transmission fluid.<br><br>Perform general overhaul work on internal combustion engines and all equipment components and accessories.&nbsp;<br><br>Performs tune-ups of gasoline and diesel motors, adjusting timing mechanisms, carburetors, and fuel and ignition systems; replaces spark plugs and distributor caps.<br><br>Adjust and realigns brakes; maintains hydraulic systems and electrical systems; assists in recharging and repairing air conditioning systems.&nbsp;<br><br>Repair power mowers, air compressors and pneumatic accessories, pumps and related machinery, and small equipment.&nbsp;<br><br>Installs and repairs vehicle scanners and radios; welds materials as needed; repairs and / or replaces tires.&nbsp;<br><br>Picks up parts and supplies; maintains neatness and cleanliness of shop; cleans wash rack, changes fuel filter, and hose on steam cleaner.&nbsp;<br><br>Assist with debris pick-up along roadways, posts road closing signs, cuts grass around shop, and performs other similar duties.&nbsp;<br><br>Work is performed under direct supervision of the Maintenance Shop Superintendent or assigned supervisor. Performance is evaluated through observation and review of repairs performed.&nbsp;<br><br>Punctuality and attendance are essential.&nbsp;<br><br>Performs other related duties as required.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: georgia, serif;\"><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;</strong>High school diploma or GED required; additional vocational training in automotive and engine repair preferred; one year of experience as automotive or engine mechanic, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
