From gorgeous, wood-beam bed frames to plush, hand-dyed blankets, each of our 142 rooms and suites embraces Vermont&rsquo;s signature style.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>One of the most beloved resorts in New England, The Woodstock Inn &amp; Resort, is seeking a Director of Catering Sales and Events to join the team.</strong></p><p><strong>Job Summary:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>The Director of Catering Sales and Events will assist in the supervision of the daily event operations, catering sales efforts and catering/events team. &nbsp;This position will have a market, book and execute their own programs while supervising the department. &nbsp;This position is responsible for maintaining service levels, developing business strategies, securing client contracts and managing financial performance.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Job Specifications:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Expected Pay Range:&nbsp;starting at $90,000 annually plus incentive pay program.<ul><li><em>The pay scale shown is the range that we reasonably expect to pay. Actual compensation offered may be adjusted based on a candidate&rsquo;s qualifications and/or experience.</em></li></ul></li><li>Shift &amp; Schedule Availability: Full Time Year Round</li><li>Weekends and Holidays when needed</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Job Responsibilities:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Lead, mentor and manage the catering and events team, including hiring, training and performance evaluations</li><li>Assign booked programs to direct reports with the goal of maintaining balance and providing the best service to the client.</li><li>Book, plan and execute events based on assigned market segment including all aspects of the event such as menu planning, amenities, activities, etc. &nbsp;</li><li>Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.&nbsp;</li><li>Address all client concerns related to in-house events and bring them with their resolution to the attention of the Sales Manager and Director of Sales.&nbsp;</li><li>Follow up with clients and Sales Managers regularly during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings.&nbsp;</li><li>Works in tandem with culinary and banquet teams for continuous improvement of food presentations, execution, service and average checks.&nbsp;</li><li>Develop and implement departmental goals and strategies to achieve company objectives.&nbsp;</li><li>Target and cultivate business within event segments including social and corporate.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage reporting and distribution of event schedules, banquet event orders and other communication to the impacted departments.</li><li>Strategize with activity departments on initiatives to maximize client experience, revenue and resort offerings.&nbsp;</li><li>Stay apprised of event and market trends in the industry and with competitors to evaluate innovative improvements and share best practices.&nbsp;</li><li>Arrange and conduct special events and site inspections. Entertain clients in accordance with established company and resort policies and guidelines.&nbsp;</li><li>Book all music, d&eacute;cor and entertainment programming for the resort venues, handle arrangements regarding travel, housing and contract negotiations.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Job Requirements:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Ability to provide articulately constructed professional communications.</li><li>Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.</li><li>Valid operator&rsquo;s license and driving record in compliance with company standards.</li><li>College degree or equivalent work experience.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to remain calm and resolve problems using good judgement as interpreted by the management.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy under pressure of tense/confrontational situations.&nbsp;</li><li>Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.</li><li>Experience in the hospitality or event coordination industry- 5 Year minimum</li><li>Experience in wedding planning/coordination &ndash; 3 Year minimum&nbsp;</li><li>Experience in leading teams &ndash; 3 Year minimum</li><li>Knowledge of Opera, SMS Host, Ivvy and Delphi</li><li>Food &amp; Beverage background</li><li>Knowledge of banquet service</li><li>Strong computer skills&nbsp;</li><li>Strong phone etiquette and able to relate to clients, guests and coworkers in a professional manner&nbsp;</li></ul><p>We offer great resort privileges, discounts, and free employee meal to all employees.</p><p>This is a full-time, year-round position offering a competitive benefits package, after an initial waiting period that includes * Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage, *Employer Paid: Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability* Paid Time Off, * 401k Retirement Plan with Employer match.</p><p>Our success is the direct result of dynamic, dedicated people with a passion for hospitality who enjoy being part of a devoted, hard-working team.
