Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage PFAS and remediation projects and tasks, including scope development, work planning, budget and schedule management, QA/QC, subcontractor oversight, and client communication to achieve technical and financial objectives. Develop PFAS conceptual site models (CSMs) and investigation strategies, including multi-media sampling programs (e.g., soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, porewater, and biota, where applicable), source identification, and fate and transport considerations. Lead the preparation of PFAS work plans and technical memoranda; evaluate and interpret analytical data (including method selection/limitations and data validation); perform screening-level and refined assessments to support remedy selection; and develop clear, defensible conclusions and recommendations. Oversee pilot studies and full-scale PFAS remedy implementation, including evaluation and design of treatment systems, source control measures, contractor procurement, permitting, construction oversight, commissioning, and operations & maintenance (O&M) support. Prepare and review technical deliverables (reports, letters, memoranda, sampling and analysis plans, RI/FS documentation, remedial action plans, treatability study reports, design documents/specifications, O&M plans, and proposals); provide technical review/approval of project team work products. Support growth of a PFAS/remediation client base by leading proposal development, pursuing repeat work, identifying new opportunities, and following through on personal business development goals. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders; communicate PFAS concepts, findings, uncertainty, and remedy options clearly and credibly. Mentor, support, and motivate early career staff in technical delivery and project performance, including PFAS sampling programs, data quality review, remedy evaluations, client expectations, and career growth. At times, this position may also include fieldwork such as multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment), oversight of drilling and well installation, contractor oversight, and support of treatment/remediation system construction, operations, and maintenance. Drive personal or company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed. Education and Licensure Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred), geology, or environmental science. (required) Advanced degree in the same. (preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) licensure in California. (required) Skills, Experience and Qualifications At least 7 years (8+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience with a focus on PFAS investigations and remediation/treatment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) Strong technical foundation in remediation (required), with demonstrated competency in PFAS investigation approaches, fate and transport, and remedy implementation. (required) Experience managing projects, including responsibility for resource allocation, quality, technical oversight, subcontractor/contractor coordination, and financial management. (required) Thorough understanding of CalEPA and USEPA regulations and guidance relevant to PFAS and remediation (required), including experience working with state/local oversight agencies and drinking water/wastewater stakeholders as applicable. Experience mentoring and managing professional staff. (required) Excellent technical leadership of multi-disciplinary teams. (required) Experience with PFAS analytical methods, data validation/QA/QC, and interpretation considerations. (required) Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required) Excellent writing and communication skills. (required) Field work and overnight travel may be required. Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
