General Statement of Duties: The Physical Therapy Technician provides support to the Physical Therapy Department by assisting in the set-up of treatments, clean-up, supervision and transporting of patients to and from the department. Essential Duties: Participants in the supervision and implementation of therapeutic exercise routines under the supervision of the Physical Therapist and following prescribed course of exercises by the therapist. Responsible for the application of ice and heat as well as removal of modalities including electrical stimulation after treatment. Responsible for transporting patients from their patient rooms to the therapy department to receive their treatment by the Physical Therapist. Performs wheelchair transfers safely. Recognizes changes in patient status and reports to the treating Physical Therapist and/or nursing staff. Participates in the Therapy Department quality control internal audits. Responsible for organizing patient treatment times with the treating Physical Therapist. Responsible for organizing, stocking, and cleaning the work area.
