Description

Overview Scope of Responsibilities: Works under general supervision. Follows standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. May assist in orienting and training employees. Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, responsible for filling and finalizing orders, including sterile compounding, prior to final verification. Also facilitating the shipment or delivery of medications to patients and providers. Responsibilities Job Duties: Prepare medication orders for final review by a pharmacist Responsible for the proper and accurate filling of each individual order, along with accurate record retention and documentation Maintain the compounding area and equipment, including routine cleaning Assist in maintaining federal, state and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps) Perform IV admixtures, sterility testing, and quality control in accordance with policy, maintain appropriate documentation Prepare sterile parenteral compounds following appropriate protocol and aseptic technique, obtaining required checks by pharmacists Maintain and keep reasonable production as determined by supervisor Prepare refrigerated and non-refrigerated shipments for UPS and FedEx daily Assist in preparation of packaging for shipments Order, receive, and store medications/supplies while ensuring appropriate stocking levels in pharmacy Perform physical inventories according to P&Ps Maintain and track DME and other equipment including cleaning and calibration activities Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities, education programs, and department/branch meetings Maintain a professional and clean appearance in pharmacy always May assist in orienting and training new employees Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Attendance Requirements: Must be available, and on-time for scheduled work shifts. Must be able to work nights and weekends as required. Educational Requirements: Minimum: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Pharmacy Technician or related certification (some states require a pharmacy technician certificate or license/registration) Current CPR certification if involved with direct patient care Experience: Experience in a customer service related field 3-6 months’ experience as a pharmacy technician, IV infusion experience/education is preferred Job Skill Requirements: Limited lifting up to 40 pounds Broad knowledge of medications, physician orders, and pharmacy systems Strong communication skills Outstanding customer service skills Excellent organization skills Ability to multitask and prioritize Excellent computer and keyboarding skills Behavioral Traits Required: Cooperation: Must work harmoniously and effectively with fellow employees, supervisors and others you are in contact with Initiative: Must work within supervision guidelines and assume additional responsibilities Flexibility: Must be willing to work variable work schedules, nights and weekends, assist others as requested and available, and be willing to perform all assigned work Adaptability: Must respond to new situations in a positive way, accept change, support new ideas, master new routines and grasp explanations, apply current knowledge in new environments and experiences Involvement: Must enjoy the demands of the job and work with interest and enthusiasm Customer Service: Must provide superior customer service (for AristaCare customers, fellow employees and business partners), listen attentively to their needs and respond appropriately Safety: Must take care of equipment and employ good safety habits Leadership: Must gain acceptance of ideas and accomplish goals through subordinates, peers and teams Compensation $21-22.25 per hour. The final offer will be determined after careful consideration of multiple factors such as relevant skills, years of experience, and education.
