    "description": "<h2>Description</h2>\n<p><strong>This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Project teams in our Energy & Industrial Group (EIG) support industry-leading projects in power generation, plant design, environmental compliance, mid/downstream oil & gas, multi-disciplined industrial projects, nuclear projects and international due diligence projects.  We’re leading efforts to decarbonize the industry by utilizing advanced technologies in renewable energy, carbon capture, and hydrogen power.  Our EIG teams perform detailed engineering services for photovoltaic (PV) solar projects and the integration of solar and energy storage.  We’re the industry leader in carbon capture technologies with experience executing pilot-scale to commercial-scale projects for utilities, industrial plants, and direct air capture.  We provide engineering services for green hydrogen production via electrolysis using solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear power sources and we support on-site usage in power generation, fuel cells, and fueling stations.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>As a member of Sargent & Lundy’s Environmental and Permitting team, you will utilize your academic background and experience to review, evaluate, and implement federal, state and local environmental regulatory requirements as they apply to a variety of electric power, nuclear power and industrial projects. You will be asked to use your knowledge of environmental regulations and engineering principals to meet project team and client needs for defining, evaluating, and implementing environmental mitigation, compliance, and permitting projects.</li>\n <li>The position will offer you the opportunity to expand your knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations as they apply to major industrial projects, and to work with multi-disciplined project teams to: \n  <ul>\n   <li>Review and implement federal, state, and local regulatory requirements as they apply to specific projects and develop strategies to implement cost-effective mitigation compliance plans.</li>\n   <li>Prepare site-specific environmental impact studies to evaluate the suitability of a site for a proposed fossil fuel power plant, nuclear power facility, wind energy farm, solar generating station, electric substation, or transmission line.</li>\n   <li>Work with project engineers to ensure projects are designed and developed using criteria that recognize all relevant environmental requirements.</li>\n   <li>Prepare permit matrices and permit applications and interface with federal, state, and local permitting agencies.</li>\n   <li>Prepare complex technical reports including site selection studies, environmental and social impact assessments, compliance audits, and regulatory reviews.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>You will have the opportunity to develop your environmental career via peer-learning and knowledge sharing with other engineers and environmental professionals and participating in Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes and our associated “Communities of Practice.” </li>\n <li>The position offers the opportunity to travel to client offices and project site locations for project reviews. Some international travel may be required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Essential skills and experience:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>A BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field, MS preferred.</li>\n <li>Four or more years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental impact assessment, and/or permitting for complex industrial projects.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations that apply to large industrial facilities, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Threatened & Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.</li>\n <li>Environmental impact assessment/permitting experience, including specific experience in one or more of the following fields:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Environmental Impact Assessments.</li>\n   <li>Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments</li>\n   <li>Subsequent License Renewals and associated Environmental Reports.</li>\n   <li>Preparation of Title V Permit Application</li>\n   <li>NPDES wastewater and construction stormwater discharge permitting.</li>\n   <li>Army Corp (wetlands) permitting.</li>\n   <li>Preparation of SWPPP/SPCC plans</li>\n   <li>Major source air permitting including preparation of air permit applications, emissions calculations, New Source Review and PSD permitting </li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n <li>Ability to interact and multitask with project team members, clients, and regulatory agencies</li>\n <li>Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and coordinate various inputs between the internal engineering team, client and regulatory agency.</li>\n <li>Ability to provide guidance to associate staff members.</li>\n <li>Experience with all Microsoft applications including proficiency specifically in Excel and Word.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Valued but not required skills and experience:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Proficiency in ArcGIS mapping and experience in developing interactive maps showing critical environmental resources such as wetlands, critical habitats, and other sensitive receptors\n  <ul>\n   <li>Certification or coursework in GIS is a plus</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Proficiency in AERMOD and experience in preparation of inputs to the software.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Award-Winning Benefits</h2>\n<p>At Sargent & Lundy, we care about the health and well-being of our employees.
