Description

Position Summary: The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) AZ program is dedicated to expanding access to PA education through an innovative hybrid model that prepares highly competent, compassionate physician assistants who deliver patient-centered care and advocacy for the health and well-being of the communities they serve. Note: This position is a temporary position working various hours and is not benefit eligible. Franklin Pierce University’s Graduate Academic Center in Goodyear, Arizona is the home campus to its MPAS-AZ hybrid program. The program fosters the development of critical thinking, lifelong learning, and professional resilience. We utilize standardized patients (SPs) to impact student experiences while on campus for immersive training. Events will likely occur during the months of June, August, and February. The hours are flexible and dependent on the scheduled activities during each immersive week. Activities will occur Monday-Thursday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. SPs will be asked to attend mandatory trainings which may be in person or virtual in the weeks leading up to each immersive. Essential Functions: SPs portray patients in educational simulated encounters with Physician Assistant students. SPs are trained to memorize and present medical histories and have physical exams performed on them. SPs will also be trained to provide feedback to students on their communication skills. Education and Experience: No formal education required; experience as a Standardized Patient is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Meet specific patient criteria for the case/activity. Ability to memorize information about a patient’s physical condition and history. Ability to be on time to attend events and trainings. Reliable transportation to the Goodyear Academic Center. Excellent communication skills and willingness to provide students with constructive feedback. Be able to provide feedback in written and verbal forms.
