Thanks for your interest in Children's Mercy! Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital. Overview The Neonatology Division at Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City is seeking board certified/eligible pediatricians to provide clinical care in our regional referral Level IV NICU. In addition to clinical excellence, preferred candidates should have an interest in and evidence of scholarly pursuits, including education and quality improvement initiatives. If desired, other clinical care models, in which the Division serves, can be considered, to include newborn nursery coverage and neonatal follow-up clinics. Longevity within the academic division is desired, with ample opportunities to pursue scholarly achievement and faculty development possibilities to qualify for academic promotion. Additional details of the position include: Develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes: Completes a comprehensive health history and performs a physical examination. Formulates and initiates a comprehensive plan of care, based on relevant therapeutic and diagnostic patient data. Consults with neonatologist as needed. Performs appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions/procedures as indicated by the patient’s condition. Evaluates and documents diagnostic findings and the patient’s responses to therapy. Modifies the management plan based on evaluation of patient data, in collaboration with the health care team. Attends deliveries and leads resuscitation efforts as necessary. Performs technical skills and management consultation as needed to assist nurses or resident physicians in the nursery and delivery room. Provides high-risk perinatal patients with appropriate information and counseling as requested. Serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the health care team: Participates in teaching rounds, serving as a clinical resource. Performs consultations for inpatients as requested by specialty, medical and surgical services in collaboration with neonatologist. Provides formal and informal educational opportunities for nurses, physicians and allied health professionals.
