If you’re ready to grow your career and do meaningful work in a future‑focused industry, this could be your power move.</p><p>As an Intermediate or Senior Substation Standards Engineer, you will lead the development, implementation, and governance of engineering standards for ITC’s high-voltage transmission substations. This role involves technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic oversight to ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance with industry codes, utility practices, and regulatory requirements.</p><p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; padding-left: 24px;\"><li>Leads the creation and refinement of substation design standards, specifications, and guidelines covering physical layouts, electrical systems, grounding, protection schemes, and SCADA integration.</li><li>Performs and reviews complex engineering analyses to support standardization efforts, including fault analysis, bus and cable sizing, grounding system design, and lightning protection.</li><li>Ensures all standards align with applicable codes (IEEE, NESC, NEC), utility requirements, and environmental regulations.</li><li>Evaluates new technologies, equipment, and materials for inclusion in standard practices, balancing innovation with reliability and cost-effectiveness.</li><li>Collaborates with engineering, operations, procurement, and construction teams to ensure standards are practical, scalable, and field-tested.</li><li>Maintains and manages a centralized repository of engineering standards, templates, and reference documentation.</li><li>Provides technical leadership during audits, quality reviews, and compliance assessments.</li><li>Mentors and guides junior engineers and standards staff, fostering technical growth and consistency in application.</li><li>Represents the utility in industry working groups, technical committees, and regulatory forums.</li><li>Monitors industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to proactively update standards and practices.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>REQUIREMENTS</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; padding-left: 24px;\"><li>Bachelor's degree with a major in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.</li><li>Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in related area(s) for Senior Engineer level and two (2) for Intermediate Engineer.</li><li>Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors.</li><li>Utility experience preferred.</li><li>Possess sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.</li><li>Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.</li><li>Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).</li><li>Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.&nbsp;</li><li>Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.&nbsp; ITC does not sponsor employment visas, such as H-1B or TN visas.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>",
