    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The School of Education Adjunct Faculty – Dissertation Advisor, under the supervision of the School Director is responsible for guiding students through their dissertation journey. Dissertation Advisors (Chairs) are to be experienced in the end to end dissertation development process. Dissertation Advisors need to be knowledgeable in all aspects of dissertation milestones for a five-chapter manuscript, including scholarly development of the Prospectus, Proposal, and final Manuscript. This is a non-exempt position paid through course instruction. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the iconic Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. Please visit the tun.touro.edu/administration/human-resources website where you can see a comprehensive listing of optional benefits and Human Resources contact information.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<li>Provide dissertation student instruction in assigned dissertation capstone courses.</li>\n<li>Guide dissertation students through each dissertation milestone deliverable ensuring compliance to template and rubric criteria.</li>\n<li>Be available to meet with students through phone, Zoom, or other sources to assist them in scholarly completion of dissertation milestone documents.</li>\n<li>Participate in virtual review sessions with students during summer intensive sessions.</li>\n<li>Review and provide formative and summative feedback to students weekly on dissertation milestone deliverables. </li>\n<li>Prepare and support students for proposal and manuscript oral defenses</li>\n<li>Counsel and advise dissertation students through committee member (subject matter expert and second committee member) feedback to meet University dissertation requirements. </li>\n<li>Participate in faculty directed activities integral to the university system.</li>\n<li>Meet with Director of School of Education on student milestone completion progress and report issues, concerns, and successes ensuring student dissertation work complies with University standards.</li>\n<li>Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum that conforms with the Program’s mission, goals, and objectives.</li>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><em><u>Education</u>: </em></p>\n<ul>\n <li>EdD or PhD from a US accredited college or university </li>\n <li>Current CITI certification (or complete through Touro University Nevada’s IRB within the first 30 days of hiring)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em><u>Experience</u></em><em>:</em>  </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Three years of dissertation chair experience (online preferred)</li>\n <li>Five years of dissertation committee experience (online preferred)</li>\n <li>Teaching experience at the University level – preferred online course instruction </li>\n <li>Multi-disciplinary experience in student dissertation development</li>\n <li>Knowledgeable in all aspects of five-chapter dissertation development</li>\n <li>Strong methodological background (qualitative and quantitative design and approach)</li>\n <li>Ability to work collaboratively as a team with other Program and University faculty and colleagues </li>\n <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to address diverse audiences </li>\n <li>Highly organized, self-starter </li>\n <li>Ability to maintain strict confidentiality</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em><u>Application Requirements</u></em>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Curriculum Vitae</li>\n <li>Cover Letter (attached to the cover letter link) that expresses your interest in this specific position at this specific institution – be specific in your dissertation advising experiences. </li>\n <li>Complete a review of provided sample paper (providing formative and summative feedback)       </li>\n</ul>\n<p><em><u>Skills & Abilities</u></em><em>:</em></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong oral and written communication skills, including grammar and formal speech</li>\n <li>Established leadership and supervisory skills</li>\n <li>Computer skills, including Microsoft Office</li>\n <li>Strong APA 7th knowledge</li>\n <li>Flexible, resilient, and uplifting demeanor</li>\n <li>Excellent organizational skills</li>\n <li>Attention to detail and situational awareness</li>\n <li>Able to exercise sound judgment</li>\n <li>Able to serve and advocate for diverse populations</li>\n</ul>",
