Establish workflows and protocols to support project objectives, maintain GIS data quality, and provide task-level oversight of GIS Technicians and Analysts.<p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Job Description</b></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p><b>What you’ll do:</b></p><p><b>Essential Job Functions &amp; Tasks</b></p><ul><li>Maintain GIS data consistency, accuracy, and integrity</li><li>Monitor GIS data entry and coordinate updates</li><li>Develop, assemble, edit, and revise maps and map products using cartographic principles</li><li>Provide software maintenance, including upgrades, patches, and database model changes</li><li>Serve as primary support for GIS users, both technically and functionally</li><li>Support web-based GIS applications</li><li>Resolve software issues and respond to requests for enhancements</li><li>Work with technical staff to troubleshoot and resolve software problems</li><li>Train employees on data entry, data manipulation, data extraction, and GIS software use</li><li>Assist in developing software user manuals</li><li>Ensure GIS interfaces effectively with other corporate systems</li><li>Lead innovation and process improvements within the GIS environment</li><li>Integrate geographic, cartographic, remote sensing, and GPS concepts into data management and display</li><li>Coordinate GPS data integration with GIS, including research and purchasing support</li><li>Assist in developing GIS standards for symbology, processes, and procedures</li><li>Help refine and advance GIS platform strategies and workflows</li><li>Support customer project development and GIS platform needs</li><li>Provide project- or task-level quality control oversight</li></ul><p><b>What we’re looking for:</b></p><p>Education requirements are listed below:</p><p><u>GIS Specialist:</u></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or related field; or</li><li>Associate’s degree in a related field plus 2 years of relevant work experience; or</li><li>High School diploma/GED plus 4 years of relevant work experience</li></ul><p>Work Experience requirement listed below:</p><p><u>GIS Specialist:</u></p><ul><li>5 years of GIS-related work experience required</li></ul><p><u>GIS Specialist Senior</u></p><ul><li>7 years of GIS-related work experience required</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Other preferences:</b></p><ul><li>Strong GIS foundation knowledge and problem-solving ability</li><li>Thorough understanding of data management principles, including database design, data archiving, metadata creation, and data organization</li><li>Ability to establish cartographic designs</li><li>Experience providing project or task-level quality control oversight</li><li>Experience with web-based mapping technologies such as HTML and JavaScript</li><li>Knowledge of GPS receivers and data collection software</li><li>Proficiency in database development concepts such as Oracle or SQL Server</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Access</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively and seek assistance when needed</li><li>Willingness and capability to assume leadership roles</li><li>Valid state driver’s license</li></ul><p></p><p><b>What you’ll get:</b></p><p>Base Salary from $74,551-109,544/year.  In addition to a competitive compensation, AEP offers a unique comprehensive benefits package that aims to support and enhance the overall well-being of our employees.</p><p>Note: This position is posted at multiple grade levels and offers a range of opportunities for advancement.</p><p>At AEP, we’re more than just an energy company — we’re a team of dedicated professionals committed to delivering safe, reliable, and innovative energy solutions.
