With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced <strong>Senior Equipment Engineer</strong> to join our Manufacturing Engineering Team. The successful candidate will serve as the subject matter expert on equipment issues, including electrical/PLC, robotics, mechanical, machining, hydraulics/pneumatics, and more. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership in driving cross-functional collaboration projects to completion on or ahead of schedule, proactively lead improvement projects, and effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>• Design and Build Custom Automation Equipment:</strong> Lead the design, development, and construction of custom industrial automation equipment to meet specific manufacturing needs.<strong>• Lead Diagnostics and Root Cause Analysis:</strong> Diagnose complex equipment failures, identify root causes, and communicate effective action plans to the team.<strong>• Expert Training and Development:</strong> Serve as an expert-level trainer on all machines within assigned areas and be responsible for training and developing other employees to up-level their skills.<strong>• Preventative Maintenance Leadership:</strong> Develop, implement, and enhance preventative maintenance documents and schedules.<strong>• Equipment Reliability Projects:</strong> Design and execute Equipment Reliability Improvement Projects to enhance operational efficiency.<strong>• Major Repairs and Rebuilds:</strong> Oversee and perform significant equipment repair and rebuilds, ensuring minimal downtime.<strong>• Spare Part and Inventory Management:</strong> Lead spare part analysis, inventory development, and cost reduction initiatives.<strong>• Preventive Measures Implementation:</strong> Investigate and implement countermeasures to prevent repetitive equipment breakdowns.<strong>• Business Case Development:</strong> Develop comprehensive business cases for improvement projects and equipment acquisitions, ensuring alignment with company goals.</p>\n<h2>Required</h2>\n<p><strong>• Educational Background:</strong> Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.<strong>• Extensive Experience:</strong> 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.<strong>• Advanced CAD Proficiency:</strong> Expertise in CATIA or similar 3D CAD software.<strong>• Prototyping Experience:</strong> Extensive experience with rapid prototyping in small to medium volume production.<strong>• Manufacturing Process Knowledge:</strong> In-depth understanding of relevant manufacturing processes and engineering materials.<strong>• Mechatronics and Pneumatics:</strong> Comprehensive experience with system designs utilizing mechatronic and pneumatic components.<strong>• Hands-on Skills:</strong> Advanced machine shop skills, including the use of lathes, mills, welders, and other machine shop equipment.<strong>• Project Execution:</strong> Proven track record in executing projects from initial concept development through final commissioning.<strong>• Control Panel Design:</strong> Extensive experience in machine control panel wiring and design.<strong>• PLC Experience:</strong> Knowledge and exposure to industrial Programmable Logic Controllers.<strong>• Custom Equipment Design:</strong> Proven experience in designing and building custom industrial automation equipment.</p>\n<h2>Desired</h2>\n<p><strong>• RTM Process Knowledge:</strong> Expertise in resin flow dynamics, injection pressures, curing cycles, and vacuum-assisted molding techniques.<strong>• Composite Materials Expertise:</strong> Deep understanding of fiber reinforcements (carbon, glass, aramid), resin systems (epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester), and core materials.<strong>• Mold & Tooling Design: </strong>Familiarity with mold construction, thermal management strategies, and sealing techniques critical for RTM.<strong>• Injection & Vacuum Systems: </strong>Hands-on experience with resin injection pumps, pressure regulation, vacuum-assisted infusion, and process optimization.<strong>• Curing & Thermal Processing:</strong> Proficiency in controlled curing environments, including ovens, autoclaves, heat blankets, and temperature management techniques.</p>\n<h2>Additional Information</h2>\n<p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
