This role will drive the creation of proprietary models, infrastructure and scalable tools that underpin our investment approach. The candidate must combine deep technical expertise in data science with leadership capacity to grow and manage a cross-disciplinary team. The candidate will be expected to do the coding, design and development themselves.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">The candidate must be located in Africa or willing to relocate.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Lead development of proprietary models for assessing SMEs and startups.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Build a scalable data infrastructure to collect, aggregate and analyze data across pipeline and portfolio companies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Develop tools and APIs to strengthen data capabilities across portfolio companies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Partner with leadership to align data products with investment strategy.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Evaluate pipeline and portfolio companies on data quality, systems and technical capacity.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Advise, coach and support portfolio founders to strengthen their data management systems.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Oversee tech stack, architecture and data governance across Renew Capital’s innovation agenda.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Ensure repeatable, transparent and compliant models that support scaling investments across Africa.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Represent Renew Capital externally as a thought leader in data science and innovation.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Preferred Qualifications</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">8+ years in data science, ML/AI, or fintech, with experience in modeling, scoring or analytics.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">Proven ability to build and lead high-performing tech teams.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">Advanced degree in a quantitative field (CS, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics) preferred.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">Hands-on with Python, SQL, R, ML frameworks and cloud data platforms.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">Track record building production-grade ML models (credit scoring, fraud detection, risk analysis, etc.).</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">Understanding of African (or similar markets) fintech and SME ecosystems.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">Strong communicator able to translate technical models into business outcomes.</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Why Join</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(50, 50, 52); font-size: 10pt\">This role is at the heart of Renew Capital’s investment strategy: building the next generation of data-driven infrastructure for Africa’s private sector.
