We are seeking an Operations Director for our facility in Fairburn, GA. Reporting to the Managing Director (similar to a site GM), the Operations Director will be responsible for the overall manufacturing performance at the site; the largest globally in Porex. This role will have direct responsibility for fostering a safety-first culture, ensuring product quality, driving on-time performance, and developing local operations talent. Reporting to this leader will be a team of Area Managers, front-line Supervisors, and Manufacturing Engineers. To be effective, the Operations Director will focus on continuous improvement, employee engagement, cost management, and team leadership to achieve strategic business objectives. Responsibilities Team Leadership & Engagement Lead a diverse team of production and engineering personnel, fostering a Safety-first culture and ensuring proper training and adherence to safety protocols. Lead and develop plant teams through coaching, empowerment, regular 1:1s and team meetings; foster talent growth and succession planning in close collaboration with the Site Leader & HR. Develop and maintain a culture of accountability, recognition, and professional growth. Operational Excellence Own the manufacturing KPIs and visual management tools; deliver Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity (SQDIP) targets Ensure products meet customer Quality expectations and specifications. Lead team to meet Volume and On Time Delivery commitments. Define and execute continuous improvement and Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) projects through Kaizen events, Standard Work, 5S and waste elimination. Resource Planning & Cost Management Analyze performance costs versus standards, identify opportunities, and drive improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain to deliver on open orders, plan direct labor, and deliver financial commitments. Align engineering resources and capital investments with operational needs. Qualifications Core Competencies Strategic Leadership: Ability to drive operational results and align team efforts with organizational goals. Change Management: Demonstrated success in leading cultural shifts and delivering measurable improvements. Lean Manufacturing: Experience with lean principles, Standard Work, and continuous improvement. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis for performance tracking and cost management. Collaboration: Skilled in working cross-functionally to achieve shared business objectives. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field. Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in operations roles; with at least five (5) years directly leading teams. Life Sciences industry experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of SIOP processes and resource planning. Demonstrated experience in implementing cost-saving initiatives and driving performance improvements.
