Overview
The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)*, the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Assistant Director of Medical Community Fundraising.
The Assistant Director of Medical Community Fundraising supports individuals, families, and community partners who independently raise funds for Wisconsin Medicine priority areas. This role ensures medical community fundraising activities align with UW Foundation policies, brand standards, and compliance requirements while providing high-quality guidance and donor experience. The Assistant Director of Medical Community Fundraising strengthens community relationships, enhances program processes, and contributes to developing a cohesive community fundraising program, all while contributing to the Wisconsin Medicine’s mission in strengthening the donor pipeline. This is a hybrid position that will require you to work on-site at our Madison, WI office at least 2 days per week.
Who is WFAA? The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is a private, nonprofit corporation that encourages individuals and organizations to make gifts to the university and to connect with the UW. In 2014, the UW Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Association® to better serve a growing population of UW alumni and donors. We believe that private support grows out of good relationships between campus leaders, faculty and program staff who need support, and the alumni and friends who want to invest in UW–Madison. We provide important engagement opportunities to link UW–Madison alumni to each other and to their alma mater, building a strong community of Badgers.

Essential Functions
Fundraising Support & Relationship Management
Serve as primary liaison for third-party medical community fundraisers.
Provide best-practice guidance on fundraising strategies, event planning, digital platforms, stewardship, and donor engagement.
Equip fundraisers with appropriate toolkits, messaging resources, and support materials.
Strategic Support for High-Impact Fundraisers & Events
Provide enhanced event or project support for selected community partners.
Collaborate with the Director of Giving Optimization in developing a tiered service approach to supporting community fundraisers.
Attend select community fundraising events in support of their efforts.
Compliance, Process Oversight & Risk Mitigation
Ensure community fundraisers align with WFAA policies, IRS legal guidelines, and branding requirements.
Manage fundraiser applications, agreements, and compliance documentation.
Program Operations, Tracking & Coordination
Maintain internal documentation, workflow systems, and fundraiser tracking tools.
Help coordinate intake and assignment of new community fundraising leads.
Record activities in the CRM system for communication transparency and centralized engagement
Program Innovation & Cross-Team Collaboration
Identify opportunities to improve and expand community fundraising processes and resources.
Partner with internal teams across Medical Advancement to ensure standardization, communication, and equity of support.
Benchmark and network with peers across the country.
Contribute to long-term strategic planning of the community fundraising program.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
2 + years of experience in fundraising, event planning, donor relations, volunteer management, or related fields.
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Excellent organization, project coordination, and communication skills.
Ability to interpret and follow fundraising compliance and brand standards.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Other Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience supporting community or peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives.
Familiarity with digital fundraising tools such as Classy, GoFundMe Charity, etc.
Understanding of healthcare, nonprofit development, or medical philanthropy work.
