This position requires population specific competencies.</p><p>The Monitor Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</p><ul><li>Operates complex cardiac monitoring systems, including ECG rhythm screens, computerized dysrhythmia detection system, and rhythm strip printers</li><li>Maintains accurate neat account of patients cardiac monitoring status during episode of care</li><li>Identifies and records patient rhythm in patient log as appropriate</li><li>Verbally communicates report on pertinent patient/monitor data to/from appropriate colleagues</li><li>During code situations, maintains contact with appropriate staff to assist with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection</li><li>Contacts biomedical engineering in a timely manner when the monitor equipment malfunctions</li><li>Ensure and maintain proper operation and up keep of monitoring equipment</li><li>The Monitor Technician reports to the Manager of Central Monitoring.</li><li>This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Please consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information.</li><li><p>Consistently viewing monitor screens for up to four hours at a time (and up to 8 hours per day).
