Description Pay Range is: $48.72 /HR The pay listed is the hourly rate for this position. An offer will vary based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. Benefit Information: This is a union position and as such will include union benefits. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities (Aligned with CBA Duties 1–18): Assisting in System Operations and Maintenance : Support senior engineers in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and associated systems used for steam and water distribution (Duty 1). Work alongside engineers to repair and maintain refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related refrigeration systems; learn safe refrigerant recovery procedures (Duty 2). Contribute to the maintenance of pumps and secondary refrigerating liquid systems, including brines and water circulation systems (Duty 3). Assist with the operation and servicing of air compressors and related air control devices, including filters, dryers, and separators (Duty 4). Learn to repair and maintain natural gas distribution systems, including all valves and regulators (Duty 5). Gain experience in plumbing repairs, including water softeners, toilet fixtures, sinks, and sprinkler systems (Duties 6 and 13). Developing Electrical and Automation Knowledge : Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical motors, generators, and engines used to power building systems like fans and pumps (Duty 7). Learn to perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on electrical and control systems, including motor controllers and variable frequency drives (Duty 9). Support the repair and troubleshooting of building automation systems, such as HVAC and lighting controls (Duty 12). Gaining Preventative Maintenance Experience : Help senior engineers perform routine maintenance tasks on compactors, sump pumps, and grease traps, as well as life safety equipment (Duties 14–16). Maintaining Equipment Rooms and Inventory : Participate in inventory control and management of parts and materials required for system maintenance and repairs (Duty 17). Assist with maintaining equipment rooms to ensure they meet safety, cleanliness, and organizational standards (Duty 18). Participating in Safety and Compliance Programs : Follow all safety regulations, Employer directives, and state/local laws to ensure safe and compliant building operations. Support life safety system testing and documentation requirements under the supervision of senior staff (Duty 16). Engaging in Training Programs : Actively participate in a state-approved Local 39 apprenticeship program, attending required classes and on-the-job training sessions. Complete technical courses and seminars provided by the Employer or Union to meet apprenticeship goals. Qualifications Qualifications: Enrollment in Local 39’s apprenticeship program : Must be actively participating in a state-approved apprenticeship plan, as defined by Local 39 guidelines. Commitment to skills development : Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical knowledge across all duties outlined in CBA sections 1–18. Teamwork and adaptability : Strong interest in working collaboratively with senior engineers and building management.
