Description Job Title: Student Worker - Coalition of Asian Students Intern Job Classification: Events and Hospitality, Student Department: Multicultural Affairs Hiring Manager: Romina Vidal Martinez Contact: [email protected] Work Schedule: 10 hours per week Desired Length of Employment: Spring/ongoing Pay Rate: $10 Job Description: Department Mission and Purpose: The mission of the Department of Multicultural Affairs is to enrich the holistic development of each student by encouraging them to celebrate their personal heritage and embrace the cultures of others. The department achieves this mission by providing programming in the areas of cultural celebration, leadership development, and cultural competency initiatives. Baylor University recognizes the changing demographics of our nation and how those changes will directly affect our University's community. Therefore, Baylor is committed to a policy of inclusiveness, understanding, and acceptance of all regardless of race or ethnicity. Consistent with the statement, Baylor will challenge and educate all members of the University community through cultural awareness programs and by precept and example. Job Summary: The MA Intern will work collaboratively with one of the three multicultural student coalitions in order to best serve the community by chairing the coalition, communicating opportunities, and planning large-scale events. Job Functions: Will serve on at least one Heritage Month committee Attend student organization general meetings and events as assigned Communicate MA events and programs to peers through social media and other avenues One hour of cultural competency training per week Researching and developing new programming to meet the needs of the university Learning Outcomes: Ability to oversee multifaceted project/event Professional communication Peer leadership Gain an understanding of institutional framework Required hard / specialized skills Must be a member of a multicultural student organization Required soft skills: Ability to collaborate within a team environment Problem-solving skills Adaptive communication style Assist in planning, coordinating, and helping with events as needed Deliver excellent customer services to clients and visitors Provide information and answer inquiries as needed Assist with various activities and tasks related to events and hospitality services Ability to comply with University policies Maintain regular and punctual attendance Employer : Baylor University Work Location: Student Union Building, Multicultural Affairs Suite (107) Work Address: 1311 S 5th Street, Waco, TX, 76706, BDSC Suite 107
