Description
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this leader will bring deep technical rigor, strong design‑to‑scale capabilities, and the ability to influence across the enterprise to deliver packaging that delights the consumer, enhances the brand experience, operationally efficient and meets required sustainability regulations. The role will need to enhance marketing efficiency, streamline processes, optimize resource allocation by ensuring packaging, merchandising, and other channel efforts drive market growth. This role will serve as a liaison between marketing, product, operations, and sourcing in coordinating the feasibility of new marketing projects, outlining costs, communicating with team members involved, and ensuring execution of changes and product set-ups.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Growth
Serve as an enterprise leader who uses deep packaging expertise to shape a growth‑driving innovation and renovation pipeline.
Develop and execute consumer‑centric packaging strategy, including innovation, cost transformation, and sustainability roadmaps.
Elevate packaging as a competitive advantage—improving product superiority, brand equity, speed to market, and cost position.
Translate business priorities into actionable marketing plans that deliver measurable results through packaging efforts in each channel
Define and manage marketing deliverables through monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles (THD, Lowe's, Walmart, Ecommerce, etc.)
Partner seamlessly with Brand, Product, Sourcing, Quality and Operations teams to ensure packaging solutions meet consumer needs and operational realities.
Partner with Product Marketing, analyzing product categories to drive product strategies to increase revenue through packaging and other channel merchandising efforts
Drive and analyze project financials to direct smart portfolio choices, prioritization, risk management, and budget stewardship.
Cross‑Functional Change Management & Global Influence
Increase organizational agility for faster response to market changes, leading cross functional groups product, brand, sourcing, engineering, operations teams act as one to achieve marketing initiatives
Develop a global packaging team and build a packaging discipline and infrastructure
Drive organizational change when implementing new technologies or procedures
Technology Management
Lead digital transformation by embedding AI-native workflows and automation into creative workstreams
Oversee marketing technology tools, automation platforms, and systems, including WebCenter and Media Beacon
Streamline internal processes and workflow automation to enhance efficiency and speed within the team
Packaging Strategy & Management
Develop and lead our packaging strategies by understanding consumer insights to drive packaging solutions that drive market growth
Strengthen end‑to‑end packaging capabilities: concept creation, design, materials science, prototyping, testing, validation, scale‑up, commercialization, and lifecycle optimization. Create & implement best‑in‑class packaging standards, validation processes & performance KPIs. Create consumer experience engineering and specification definitions Develop strategies to combat and navigate the ever- changing regulations around sustainability requirements across global markets Manage complex packaging/merchandising projects involving multiple product categories (e.g., Lowe’s PLR, brand power project, retailer resets, end caps, etc.) from initiation to completion
Manage packaging changes and data in Windchill and coordinate implementation with production operations
Lead the efforts on developing displays and other merchandising items
Help to create/identify efficiencies within packaging in different areas such as cost, rationalization, or innovation
Actively engage in the global packaging network to leverage insights, capabilities, scale, and best practices.
Team Leadership & Culture
Lead and grow a high‑performing team, with support from a project manager to develop global packaging discipline/task force, fostering curiosity, accountability, transparency, and collaboration.
Coach, mentor, and develop technical and operational skills of team members to deliver results
Qualifications
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s Degree is required. (MBA degree preferred.) End-customer orientation. Experience in consumer-packaged goods marketing and new product development (Experience in home improvement and plumbing industry preferred). Multi-channel experience including Big Box, Hardware, MRO, Wholesale and Online Demonstrated success defining and launching superior products. Experience tracking and supporting product post launch. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills required with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets, KPIs, and deadlines consistently. Seasoned experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Project. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. A self-motivated individual with the ability to keep many projects on schedule and demonstrate excellent teamwork and decision-making skills. Must be able to travel as required. Capable of standing, walking, bending and sitting on a frequent basis.
