Description

Job Description The Registered Social Worker (SW) will practice within the interprofessional team model and will be responsible for providing psychotherapy and safety planning to clients 13 years and older who have experienced recent sexual assault, sexual abuse, human trafficking, or intimate partner violence. The Social Worker will also provide psychoeducation to family members affected by trauma; with the goal of assisting clients and their families to achieve optimal functioning throughout the continuum of care. Contribute to safe, quality care by: Conducting individual intakes and formulating treatment plans with clients who have experienced recent sexual assault, sexual abuse, human trafficking, and/or intimate partner violence. Provide counselling to clients utilizing the tri-phasic model of trauma counselling and evidence-based trauma therapies Advocating for and with the clients at DASA Providing community referrals to other organizations based on the formulated treatment plan for each client Providing educational presentations to community partners regarding sexual assault and intimate partner violence Participating in regional committees working toward ending sexual and intimate partner violence Participating in the Social Work Community of Practice Network meetings What must you have? Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers Master’s degree in Social Work or related field Experience providing psychotherapy to children 10 and older, and adults. What else do you bring? Demonstrates expertise in trauma and issues related to abuse and assault. Understanding of and training in different therapeutic modalities (e.g. CBT, ACT, EMDR, Narrative, DBT, somatic modalities etc.) Awareness of different theoretical frameworks that inform you psychotherapy practice (e.g. trauma-informed and anti-oppressive etc.). Well-developed psycho-social assessment skills. Advanced interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development Understanding of consent, capacity legislation, and ethics related to psychotherapy Computer literacy in word processing and database management. A strong desire and capacity to promote professional practice and excellence in evidence-based, patient centered care. Proven attendance record. Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all. Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring. Models behaviour that is aligned with the values of Mackenzie Health – Excellence, Leadership and Empathy. Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting healthcare environment.
