Position Overview Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students, the Director will assist senior leadership for the Division of Student Life in the development of a holistic approach to ensuring student health, personal development and overall positive well-being. In collaboration with senior leadership, the Director will: provide guidance for the division’s response to students of concern; monitor assessment and current behavioral trends; help facilitate and evaluate programs that center on counseling, health and wellness goals for positively impacting the student experience. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Provide leadership for Counseling Services, including all aspects of progamming, development, client care, and compliance. Manage a reasonabale student case load Consult and coordinate with campus partners, including the Academic Enrichment Center, Title IX office, Office of Disability and Accessibility, and Center for Global Education. Provide outreach and maintain contractual agreements with local mental health agencies and professionals Serve on the College’s Care (Behavioral Intervention) Team Serve on the college’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Programming Task Force (DAAPP) Monitor compliance expectations for Counseling Services, with respect to HIPPA, FERPA, and clinical standards of care. Engage in outreach connections and provide trainings on mental health management to Residence Life, Athletics, Academic Advisors, and others. Provide high-quality competency-based supervision to therapists and therapy interns. Function as a leader within an embedded multidisciplinary health and counseling clinic. Fully oversee the hiring, training, and disciplining of employees within the department. Oversee and maintain fiscal responsibility of department budget. Facilitate departmental meetings and interdisciplinary clinical staffing. Provide expertise and participate in the division’s on-call crisis response, coordinating with Public Safety and Residence Life to intervene and respond to critical mental health events. Create and maintain departmental policies and procedures. Some required evening/weekend work throughout the academic year Additional duties as assigned Qualifications Master’s or doctorate degree in counseling, social work, or psychology. Active license (or license-eligible by reciprocity) to independently practice mental health therapy in Indiana (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, LP). Minimum of 2 years prior experience in a mental health leadership role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient with an electronic health record software Strong project / program management and evaluation skills Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects Excellent leadership and team management skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures Experienced in comprehensive risk assessment and crisis response. Experienced in providing multiple evidence-based therapy modalities. Experienced in providing clinical supervision.
