If you want to look back on your career and point to something real, this is where you do that work. </p><p><strong>How you will make an impact:</strong></p><ul><li>Design, implement, and verify robust applications within an embedded Linux software stack powering life-critical systems </li><li>Own complex back-end modules from requirements through delivery, with a keene eye toward reliability, maintainability, and performance. </li><li>Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering disciplines to integrate hardware and software into cohesive, dependable products. </li><li>Analyze, author, and update software requirements and verification procedures. </li><li>Mentor junior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and raise the technical bar across the team. </li><li>Solve hard problems - and take pride in doing it right. </li></ul><p><strong>To be successful in this role, you will need to following skills and experience:</strong></p><p><em>Experience & Education </em></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years in software/hardware system design and implementation </li><li>Strong Python 3 skills for tooling, automation, scripting, multiprocessing services, and system-level development </li><li>Embedded Linux application development - you know what it means to write software that runs close to the metal </li><li>Proficiency in C and C++ is a plus including hands-on experience in modern C++ (C++20 preferred) </li></ul><p><em>Technical Skills </em></p><ul><li>Practical experience with containerization tools: Docker, Docker Compose, and related Docker products. </li><li>Familiarity with configuration management and infrastructure automation using Ansible. </li><li>CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance; comfort with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). </li><li>Experience with source control and project tracking tools, including GitLab and Jira </li><li>Working knowledge of serialization and data interchange formats such as Protocol Buffers and JSON </li><li>Experience with development containers and IDEs such as VS Code. </li><li>Ability to write clear, navigable technical documentation (Markdown, Doxygen, Confluence). </li><li>Strong attention to detail in all written work.</li><li>Experience with requirement driven design in regulated spaces. </li><li>Familiarity with the AWS IoT ecosystem, MQTT, Pub-Sub Communication. </li><li>Familiarity with microservice architecture. </li><li>Familiarity with PostgreSQL or similar SQL based platforms. </li></ul><p><em>Who Thrives Here </em></p><ul><li>Engineers who dig deep - root cause is not \"unknown,\" it's \"not yet found\". </li><li>Self-starters who can own a problem from whiteboard to production. </li><li>Communicators who write clearly, speak directly, and collaborate across disciplines hand-on. </li><li>People who care about reliability because lives depend on it - not because the Jira ticket says so. </li><li>Curious minds who seek to understand how things work all the way down. </li></ul><p><strong>About DEKA: </strong><br>One hour from the beach, Boston, and the mountains, the historic Amoskeag Millyard once housed the largest textile mills in the world.
