We give people the freedom to innovate and be awesome.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Who We Are Looking For</strong></p><p>BPL is looking for professionals who are seeking opportunities for growth and to be challenged. &nbsp;Highly motivated, self-starters who want to build relationships and grow their careers as part of a collaborative team will be successful at BPL. &nbsp;If you are this type of person and ready to get to work, BPL has an I<strong>ntermediate Building Enclosure Consultant</strong> position available for you in our growing <strong>Detroit, MI</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong>practice.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>What You Will Do</strong></p><p>Building Enclosure Consulting is a specialized profession that involves the application of scientific principles and practical know-how to develop the right building enclosure solutions. These skills provide our clients with buildings that function reliably by preventing unwanted water intrusion, condensation, energy loss, air leakage, and physical deterioration.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare budgets and proposals for building enclosure services on a wide range of building and client types.</li><li>Review construction documents including architectural drawings, specifications, trade submittals, and shop drawings.</li><li>Evaluate existing buildings to identify enclosure problems and develop proper repair designs.</li><li>Prepare reports to summarize methodologies, observations, conclusions, and recommendations.</li><li>Attend design phase, pre-construction, pre-installation, and construction progress meetings and provide technical expertise.</li><li>Conduct regular walk-through observations of building enclosure construction for compliance with contract documents, manufacturers&rsquo; instructions, and industry standards.</li><li>Prepare field observation reports.</li><li>Perform field quality assessment and diagnostic testing to ASTM and AAMA standards.&nbsp;</li><li>Mentor and train other BPL staff on technical issues.</li><li>Periodically travel outside of the Minneapolis metro area for project assignments.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelors&rsquo; degree and/or technical diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline, or equivalent of industry experience.</li><li>5+ years&nbsp;of experience in design and/or construction related work.</li></ul><p><strong>Skills:</strong></p><ul><li>Excellent communicator, both verbal and written.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work at heights and&nbsp;travel to job sites (must have reliable transportation).</li><li>Software: Trimble SketchUp, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD a plus.</li><li>Knowledge of building codes.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a Team, internally and externally.</li><li>Strong project management including project budgets and scheduling.</li><li>Experience in evaluating drawings, specifications, and other technical products and material data.</li><li>Understanding of key building enclosure technical issues and issues related to material durability and material compatibility.</li><li>Knowledge of ASTM and AAMA standard test methods.</li><li>Knowledge of construction assemblies for a variety of construction systems.&nbsp;</li><li>Good presentation skills and experience a plus.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Key Character Traits</strong></p><ul><li>Professional demeanor.</li><li>Passion for learning and working as part of a Team. &nbsp; &nbsp;</li><li>Attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines.</li><li>Manages own time and exercises rational judgement.</li><li>Work independently under general supervision of senior Team Members to deliver successful projects.</li><li>Innovative thinker who looks for ways to improve processes and procedures.</li></ul><p><strong>Why You Will Want to Join the BPL Team&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Our team: &nbsp;We are committed to life-long learning and are dedicated to the professional development and mentoring of our team members over their entire careers.</li><li>Our clients: &nbsp;We have enduring client relationships based on mutual respect and trust. &nbsp;</li><li>Our projects: &nbsp;Our clients trust us to deliver some of the most challenging and interesting projects.&nbsp;</li><li>Our culture: &nbsp;Our Team includes people of high character and diverse talents, working collaboratively to encourage each other to deliver the best results for our clients.
