Description

Compensation Salary Schedule Overview To establish, coordinate and monitor functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans for Exceptional Student Education students. Responsible for coaching and directing teachers in best learning practices and supporting school progress monitoring programs. Responsibilities and Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS : Master's degree from an accredited college or university or have at least 50 percent of coursework completed towards the Master’s degree. Certification or eligible for certification by the Florida State Department of Education to teach ESE in the State of Florida. Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working with behaviorally challenged students.OrBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Certification or eligible for certification by the Florida State Department of Education to teach ESE in the State of Florida. Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working with behaviorally challenged students. Must have successfully completed the Registered Behavior Technician online course from an accredited institution. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills; ability to use effective positive interpersonal skills; ability to assess and modify behavior problems; ability to facilitate team meetings; knowledge of community services; knowledge of behavior management techniques; Knowledge of computer applications and educational technology; Commitment to a core set of beliefs about learning, teaching and ongoing professional development. REPORTS TO : School Principal JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : * Assists ESE teachers and acts as a classroom facilitator to assess best learning practices for teachers to use in the classroom.* Monitors functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention programs.* Conducts one-on-one social skills lessons with ESE students.* Participates in a cooperative effort with faculty and staff to plan, implement and evaluate school wide ESE programs.* Participates in Florida Department of Education required workshops and other trainings. * Processes ESE discipline referrals and assist with PLC compliance issues.* Maintains contact with teachers and parents in conjunction with administrative team (i.e. ESE teacher, assistant principal and principal) through teacher/parent conferences and IEP team meetings.* Works with various agencies to develop community resources.* Determines the appropriate methods to use in resolving student behavior problems.* Utilizes technology and current research in technology.* Observes and assesses teacher/student needs to promote a productive learning environment.* Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as a part of their job responsibilities.* Implement knowledge of the Response to Intervention model in both academic and behavioral structures. * Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.Performs other duties as assigned by principal. ADA COMPLIANCE : Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (l2-20 pounds).Sensory Requirements: Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds.Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease or pathogenic substances. EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions as set forth in the OCPS Instructional Personnel Evaluation System procedures manual.
