    "description": "<h2>Description</h2>\n<p><strong>This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position will offer you the ability to apply and expand your knowledge of underground transmission line engineering, including routing, duct bank configurations, manhole placement and electrical principles to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Design underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500kV. </li>\n <li>Support Project team to develop for cost analyses, development of design criteria, routing, siting and routing challenges and placement of manholes for underground transmission lines. </li>\n <li>Support development of physical design including duct bank layouts, development of trenchless designs, cable pulling calculations, development of drawing packages. </li>\n <li>Support cable selection studies, determining bonding scheme, performing ampacity calculations.</li>\n <li>Develop riser structure configuration and structural loading.</li>\n <li>Develop specifications including cable procurement, duct bank installation, trenchless installation and general construction specifications. </li>\n <li>Coordinate other engineers, designers and drafters.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Essential skills and experience:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>This position requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.</li>\n <li>Experience with cable tensioning calculations and/or software.</li>\n <li>2 or more years of experience on underground transmission projects. </li>\n <li>Experience with XLPE cable design.</li>\n <li>Preparation of specifications for installation and procurement of underground transmission line materials and components.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.</li>\n <li>Proficiency with MS Office applications.</li>\n <li>Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.</li>\n <li>Attention to detail.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Valued but not required skills and experience:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience with CYMCAP</li>\n <li>Experience with High Pressure Gas Filled or High-Pressured Fluid Filled pipe type cable systems and associated equipment</li>\n <li>Experience with underground distribution or low voltage cable systems</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>AI & Automation at Sargent & Lundy</h2>\n<p>In this role, we expect people to be willing or able to solve problems using modern tools:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>You are expected to take engineering problems from issue to solution using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.</li>\n <li>Many engineers in these roles build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results.</li>\n <li>Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.</li>\n <li>We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Award-Winning Benefits</h2>\n<p>At Sargent & Lundy, we care about the health and well-being of our employees.
