This is a hybrid role.</strong> </p>\n<p><strong>Here’s a little about UCLA:</strong> </p>\n<p>UCLA is one of the world’s leading public research universities, consistently ranked among the top institutions globally. With a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff—and a footprint that includes a major academic campus, multiple medical centers, and an extensive health system—UCLA operates at a scale more comparable to a major city than a traditional university. </p>\n<p>The UCLA Office of Civil Rights plays a critical role in fostering a campus environment rooted in equity, safety, and accountability. The office oversees compliance with federal and state civil rights laws and leads efforts to prevent and respond to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation across one of the most complex higher education ecosystems in the country. </p>\n<p><strong>About this role:</strong> </p>\n<p>This is not a typical Title IX role. UCLA receives one of the highest volumes of reports across the UC system, offering an unmatched opportunity to work on a wide range of cases, from student matters to complex issues involving faculty, staff, and healthcare environments. </p>\n<p>As Deputy Director, you’ll serve as a key partner to the Title IX Director, helping lead investigations, shape processes, and mentor staff. The breadth, complexity, and visibility of this work will significantly refine your skill set and position you for future advancement in the field. </p>\n<p><strong>Scope & Impact:</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Partner with the Title IX Director to oversee case assessments, investigations, and resolution processes across the Civil Rights Office </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Review investigative work, guide staff, and ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across cases </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead or support complex and sensitive investigations involving sexual harassment, sexual violence, and other discrimination matters </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Oversee informal and alternative resolution processes and ensure equitable outcomes for all parties </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Direct the office’s response to state and federal audits, investigations, and compliance reviews </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Collaborate with campus partners including HR, Academic Personnel, and Student Affairs on case management and resolution </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide expert consultation on Title IX and civil rights matters, helping stakeholders navigate sensitive situations </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead and scale training and education programs for faculty, staff, students, and healthcare populations </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Supervise and develop team members, contributing to a high-performing, mission-driven culture </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Stay current on evolving Title IX regulations, case law, and best practices, applying insights to strengthen programs and processes </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>5+ years of experience overseeing and conducting sensitive investigations, ideally within higher education or similarly complex environments </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Deep knowledge of Title IX, gender discrimination, sexual violence, and harassment regulations and practices </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated experience reviewing investigative reports and exercising sound judgment in complex cases </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices and experience working with impacted individuals </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to navigate highly sensitive situations </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience designing or managing administrative processes and case management systems </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Proven ability to lead, mentor, or supervise staff in a fast-paced, high-volume environment </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply policy and legal frameworks to complex issues </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to build trust and work effectively with diverse populations across a large, decentralized organization </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>High emotional intelligence and the ability to handle difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Juris Doctor (JD) preferred </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Compensation & Benefits:</strong> </p>\n<p>The anticipated salary for this position is <strong>$150,000 $155,000 annually</strong>. </p>\n<p>The University of California offers a comprehensive, highly competitive benefits package designed to support your health, financial security, and work-life balance.
