Description
Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company reclaiming the lost art of rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft in the world today. By prioritizing relentless hardware iteration, we deliver high-speed systems at the pace of the modern battlefield. We work with the Department of War to provide the high-speed capabilities our nation and its allies need to maintain a durable, asymmetric advantage.
As a Flight Software Intern, you will support the design and implementation of mission systems for uncrewed high-speed aircraft. You will work with the A-GRA (OMS/UCI) framework to help develop interoperable systems and messaging architectures.
Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)
Fall: Around 16 weeks (August - December)
U.S. EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE STATUS
The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing. Responsibilities:
Support the design and implementation of systems using A-GRA (OMS/UCI) for uncrewed high-speed aircraft
Assist in developing and integrating messaging systems that enable communication between mission subsystems
Work with messaging standards, protocols, and APIs to support system interoperability
Collaborate with engineering teams to test, validate, and refine mission system interfaces and integrations
Minimum Requirements:
Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Entry level experience of C++, C, or other embedded programming languages.
Experience with working with hardware integrations and embedded computers (Raspberry PIs, arduinos, STM32s).
Strong understanding of engineering first principles
Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
Interest in mission systems, autonomy, or aerospace systems integration
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
GPA of 3.0 or above
