    "description": "<p>The International University of Science &amp; Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new Campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Fully accredited by the Private Universities Council (PUC), the University offers a wide range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. In addition to the academic programs, the IUK has established the University Foundation Program (UFP) that offers English and Math foundation programs. The IUK is looking for dynamic full-time academic staff who are passionate about teaching, contributing to developing a vibrant and successful learning environment with students.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Summary</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The College of Engineering at the IUK seeks candidates for an <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Assistant Professor</span> position to teach Civil &amp; Architectural<a href=\"https://www.iuk.edu.kw/civil-and-arch-department\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span> </span></span></a> Engineering courses (specialization in <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering</span>). The faculty members will teach introductory-level courses in Civil &amp; Architectural Engineering for science and engineering majors, and non-science majors. In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to maintain significant scholarly work and professional services. The successful candidate will contribute to develop an outcome-based student-focused curriculum.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The primary role of the faculty members at the IUK is to promote high-quality teaching, research, and services. Besides, he/she should collaborate with the Head of Department, College's Dean, and the colleagues to achieve the department's and College's mission, mentor junior colleagues, and teaching assistants, and support the department and the University with several administrative and academic services.</p>\n<p>In addition to teaching, the faculty members are expected to maintain office hours, provide advisement for students and participate in curriculum development, and contribute to the university professional development activities.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teach different courses according to his/her specialty and experience.</li>\n<li>Promote innovation in teaching by introducing new teaching methodologies and strategies.<br></li>\n<li>Engage with students in and out of the classroom.</li>\n<li>Promote research activities and other creative work at IUK including publishing in indexed peer-reviewed publications.</li>\n<li>Mentor new colleagues and teaching assistants</li>\n<li>Support the mission of the Department and College at the IUK by following the set curriculum and working towards achieving the program objectives and student learning outcomes.</li>\n<li>Follow the university bylaws and regulations and promote the institutional environment.</li>\n<li>Commit to teaching schedules, office hours, preparation, service, and professional development.</li>\n<li>Provide academic support to other colleagues in the department.</li>\n<li>Participate in the College's and the University's events and supporting collegiality.</li>\n<li>Support the College and the University in organizing seminars, international conferences, and faculty events.<br></li>\n<li>Serve in the College's and university's committees as needed.<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Ph.D. </span>in Civil &amp; Architectural Engineering or closely related field.</li>\n<li>Specialization in <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Experience</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of three years of university teaching experience at a university/college level</li>\n<li>Proven experience in using different learning management systems and in adopting e-learning teaching strategies.</li>\n<li>An experience that proves an understanding of a multicultural academic environment, and understanding of students' needs, including those of special needs.<br></li>\n<li>An experience with various instructional methodologies<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Technical Skills</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent writing and interpersonal skills</li>\n<li>Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship<br></li>\n<li>Computer, LMS, and e-learning skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Behavioral Skills</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills</li>\n<li>Effective communication skills in English</li>\n<li>Team and time management skills<br></li>\n<li>A passion for teaching</li>\n</ul>",
