Temple University's School of Dentistry is searching for a Mechanic II: Dental! As the second-oldest dental school in the U.S., the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry upholds a legacy of innovation in dental education, research efforts, community service and pioneering healthcare services. HOURLY RATE: $37.06 per hour A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant’s education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source. *General hours will be Mon-Fri 8-5, but must be able to have schedule flexibility as needed, which may include occasional earlier hours, weekends etc. Position Summary: The Dental Mechanic will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various dental equipment for the Kornberg School of Dentistry. Primary responsibilities will be the repair of hand pieces, the hand piece delivery system, sterilizers, dental chairs and associated plumbing, lab equipment, and x-ray equipment and processors. In addition, the Mechanic II will be responsible for ordering necessary supplies and equipment as well as keeping accurate inventory. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: At least 5 years of related experience in a dental or similar environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: *Must be able to travel between dental school clinics as needed. *Ability to perform plumbing duties as well as carpentry and electrical repairs. *Demonstrated knowledge of dental units *Must be able to work with a diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, and other external contacts. *Must have great attention to detail and sound judgments with the ability to make independent decision. *Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational and interpersonal skills. *Ability to multitask and prioritize work. Essential duties: *Installing, repairing, and maintaining various clinical dental equipment such as dental chairs, sinks, hand pieces, sterilizers, x-ray units *Installing, repairing, and maintaining dental laboratory equipment, and practice units *Ordering necessary supplies and equipment as well as keeping accurate inventory.
