    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>CentraState Medical Center, </strong>located in Freehold, New Jersey, is seeking a <strong>full-time Outreach Phlebotomist, Day Shift</strong>. This position provides phlebotomy services to skilled nursing facilities and nurding  homes located in the CentraState service area.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Outreach phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens on all age groups and preparing specimens for transport to testing lab (s). This is a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with high patient volume.   The ability to work independently and efficiently is essential.  Self-motivated with excellent customer service skills are a must. An eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy in interpreting physician orders is crucial.  Other duties include answering the phone and responding to patient/MD requests for lab results, fasting requirements and hours of operation. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel around the service area – Monmouth and Ocean counties. Must be comfortable working alone and willing to drive in inclement weather.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Outreach Phlebotomist</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Collect blood specimens on young children to senior citizens through venipuncture, capillary fingerstick, or heelstick </li>\n <li>Obtain blood according to lab policy and procedure with minimal bruising to patient</li>\n <li>Label tubes appropriately with initials, date and time</li>\n <li>Prepare specimens for shipment to testing lab (s)</li>\n <li>Interpret physician orders and perform computer order entry accurately</li>\n <li>Properly instruct patients in specimen collection, e.g., clean catch urines</li>\n <li>Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner</li>\n <li>Register patients and perform order entry accurately</li>\n <li>Scan documents into the medical record</li>\n <li>Secure patient signatures on ABN’s</li>\n <li>Secure patient signature on consents</li>\n <li>Open facility/Close facility</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Nursing Homes</strong></p>\n<p>Travel to nursing home accounts in Monmouth and Ocean counties using own vehicle or hospital vehicle. </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Collect blood specimens residents of Nursing Homes through venipuncture</li>\n <li>Obtain blood according to lab policy and procedure with minimal bruising to patient</li>\n <li>Label tubes at the bedside with initials, date and time </li>\n <li>Interpret physician orders and perform computer order entry accurately</li>\n</ul>\n<p>#ind-cs</p>\n<p> #li-csta</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li>\n <li>Three years' experience as ASCP-certified phlebotomy technician preferred (Outreach)</li>\n <li>Certification preferred</li>\n <li>Proficient computer skills required for registering patients and ordering lab tests</li>\n <li>Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>About Us</h2>\n<p>CentraState Healthcare System, in partnership with Atlantic Health System, is a fully accredited, not-for-profit, community-based health system dedicated to providing comprehensive health services in central New Jersey.
