Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Janitor will serve on the property staff as a team member who strives for the highest standard of safety, cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and attractiveness of the YMCA buildings and grounds. The Janitor provides leadership and assures the well-being for all, in line with YMCA of the USA guidelines and Association policies.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p><ul><li>Models the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.</li><li>Develops and maintains positive relationships with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; supporting members connect with each other and the YMCA.</li><li>Maintains physical presence, always remains alert while on duty.</li><li>Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures; completes related reports as required.</li><li>Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building.</li><li>Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.</li><li>Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, fitness areas, and child care rooms.</li><li>Performs limited grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming lawns and hedges and cleaning snow from sidewalks.</li><li>Ensures heating and cooling systems are operational.</li><li>Maintains a neat and orderly janitors’ room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.</li><li>Washes windows.</li><li>Assists in examining facilities/assigned areas for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to their direct supervisor or on-site manager.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li><li>Knows, follows, and enforces all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, procedures, and staff expectations, including those for the prevention of child abuse.</li><li>Ambassador of all YMCA programs with a focus on department offerings and member engagement.</li><li>Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
