direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. </p>\n<p>  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assists patient with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides routine treatments and maintains a safe, clean, neat, and organized patient environment. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Assures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Follows standard precautions, always washes hands between patients. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rates, food and fluid intake and output as directed. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Obtains data and accurately documents pertinent patient information according to Baptist Health and Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Recognizes and communicates appropriate information and safety concerns regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and or other members of the health care team. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Participates in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding of patients. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by Baptist Health and Orlando Health and unit specific competencies. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains a clean, neat, safe, and organized nursing unit. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Receives and processes incoming phone calls, patient call lights and guest requests. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>May have limited access to areas storing medications. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Enthusiastically supports and participates in planned changes.  </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Participates in nursing Performance Improvement activities as assigned. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Consistently utilizes time and resources effectively and efficiently. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls and guest requests. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Attends hospital, unit staff meetings and in-services according to policy. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Completes all mandatory training. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on principles of growth and development over the life span. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent.  </strong> </p>\n<p>One (1) year of nursing assistant work experience within the past five years may be substituted for completion of one of the below trainings: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant Program; or </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>State of Alabama Certified Nursing Assistant certification; or </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>State of Alabama Licensed Practical Nurse; or other trainings listed in training requirements </li>\n</ul>",
