    "description": "<p><span>The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, performance optimization, monitoring, and operational management of enterprise database platforms, with a primary focus on IBM DB2 (AIX/Linux) environments. This role ensures the availability, integrity, security, and performance of mission-critical databases supporting core business applications.</span><span> <br> <br><span>The DBA will also contribute to SQL Server environments and support modernization initiatives, compliance alignment (HITRUST, NIST, SOC2), and hybrid infrastructure evolution.</span></span><span><span> </span></span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities:</span><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span>• Administer DB2 databases across AIX/Linux environments</span>.<span> </span><br><span>• Manage DB2 on IBM Power Systems (PowerVM LPARs)</span>.<span> </span><br><span>• Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades</span>.<span> </span><br><span>• Manage schemas, tablespaces, indexes</span>.<span> </span><br><span>• Ensure high availability and adherence to SLA compliance</span>.<span> </span></p>\n<p><br><span>Performance &amp; Tuning:</span><span> <br><span>• Optimize SQL, buffer pools, memory, I/O, and locking</span> mechanisms. <br><span>• Execute RUNSTATS and analyze EXPLAIN plans</span></span><span> for performance improvements.<br> <br><span>Monitoring &amp; SIEM:</span></span><span> <br><span>• Implement and manage monitoring tools (PRTG, Rapid7, and native DB2 tools)</span>. <br><span>• Integrate database logs with SIEM platforms (Rapid7)</span>. <br><span>• Monitor system health: CPU, memory, disk, locking, and query performance. </span><br> <br><span>Capacity Management:</span></span><span> <br><span>• Manage storage utilization and tablespace growth</span>. <br><span>• Perform capacity planning</span></span><span> and forecasting.<br><span>• Optimize memory structures (e.g., buffer pools, sort heap)</span></span><span>.<br><span>• Manage PowerVM resource allocation</span>.<br><br></span></p>\n<p><span>Backup &amp; Recovery:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span>Manage backup and restore processes</span>.<br><span>• Ensure disaster recovery readiness and conduct regular testing</span>.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span>Security &amp; Compliance: <br><span>• Implement RBAC, encryption, and auditing</span> controls. <br><span>• Support compliance efforts (HITRUST, NIST, SOC2). </span></span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span>Modernization:</span><span> <br><span>• Support migrations (AIX → Linux, cloud environments).</span> <br><span>• Work with OpenShift and container platforms</span>. <br><span>• Contribute to ongoing database modernization</span> efforts.<br> <br><span>SQL Server Support:</span> <br><span>• Provide performance tuning, backups, and routine maintenance</span><span> for SQL server.</span> </span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span> 7+ years </span><span>of experience with </span><span>DB2</span><span>.</span></li>\n<li><span>Hands-on e</span><span>xperience with DB2on Power Systems (PowerVMLPARs)</span><span>.</span></li>\n<li><span>Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning and optimization. </span></li>\n<li>Experience with shell scripting (Bash and/or KornShell).</li>\n<li>Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.</li>\n<li>Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).</li>\n<li>Exposure to OpenShift and/or Kubernetes.</li>\n<li>Experience supporting or integrating with SIEM solutions.</li>\n<li>Background in platform modernization initiatives.</li>\n<li>Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments.</li>\n<li><span>Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. </span></li>\n<li>Proven performance troubleshooting expertise.</li>\n<li>High level of attention to detail</li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills</li>\n<li>Ability to perform effectively in critical, high-pressure environments.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This position offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, life insurance, STD, LTD, 5 weeks PTO, and paid Holidays for a full-time employee.
