Position Summary: The In-Patient Acute Care Seniors Unit at Trillium Health Partners (THP), located at the Mississauga Hospital (MH) site, consists of 26 beds dedicated to providing specialized acute care for the older adult. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the occupational therapist is highly skilled, agile, and adaptable with advanced critical thinking and interprofessional skills. As a member of the Geriatric Medicine Interprofessional team, you will have the opportunity to provide patient-centered care to older adults with the goal of preventing cognitive and functional decline during admission. Responsibilities: The Occupational Therapist is accountable to assume new caseloads comfortably and competently As an active member of an interdisciplinary team is responsible for providing Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment to patients to improve function Provides Occupational Therapy services in keeping with college guidelines and Essential Competencies, for clients with deficits in areas of occupational performance Participates in Professional Practice meetings and patient care rounds as required Supervises support personnel, students and volunteers as appropriate Participates in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation, thereby contributing to the overall vision/mandate of Trillium Health Partners and Occupational Therapy Services Key Qualifications: Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy Registered in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario Membership in O.S.O.T. and/or C.A.O.T. preferred Candidates with recent clinical experience, knowledge, education or certification in older adult care preferred GPA training is considered an asset Candidate with relevant experience in working with geriatric patients and a thorough understanding of geriatric syndromes and their impact on function preferred Demonstrates the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team including families and community partners, using effective communication skills Able to work in a fast-paced environment within a highly collaborative model of care, putting patients’ needs first Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and is able to be self-directed in a fast-paced, flexible working environment Previous experience and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Occupational Therapist Assistants, and other interprofessional team members A positive attendance record is essential To pursue this career opportunity, please visit our website: www.trilliumhealthpartners.ca Internal Candidates who believe they possess the necessary qualifications and experience for this position and who have been in their current position for at least six (6) months are encouraged to apply.
