Description
Peregrine Team is seeking a strategic and hands-on Associate Vice President of Finance and Business Operations to lead finance, accounting, and operational functions for a non-profit organization. This role partners closely with the CFO and executive leadership to drive financial strategy, operational efficiency, compliance, and long-term planning.
The ideal candidate is both a strong financial leader and an operator who can oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance while also improving systems, processes, and cross-functional alignment across the organization.
Location: Los Angeles, CA (On-site)
FMLA: Exempt
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a member of the CFO’s leadership team and contribute to organizational strategy and financial planning Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, audits, tax, and compliance functions Lead annual operating plan and budgeting process aligned with strategic priorities Monitor financial performance, KPIs, and variance analysis to support executive decision-making Ensure GAAP compliance, internal controls, and regulatory reporting requirements are met Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial consultants Develop financial reporting tools, dashboards, and scorecards to support leadership and board reporting Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture Partner with operational and program teams to align financial systems and business processes Drive process improvement, automation, and efficiency across finance and business operations Support board reporting and presentations in partnership with the CFO Participate in retirement plan governance and other organizational committees as needed Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required Prior senior leadership experience in a complex organization, nonprofit experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting Experience working with executive leadership and/or boards of directors Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams Strong communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications:
Nonprofit or mission-driven organization experience Experience with financial transformation, process improvement, or system implementation Experience working with external auditors, investment advisors, or governance committees
