The Department of Housing and Residence Life at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Residence Life Desk Manager. About the Opportunity: The Residence Life Desk Manager will serve as a point of contact for students on a daily basis. They carry out residence hall procedures related to hall security including checking and verifying student IDs, issuing of student keys and temporary keys, supporting the RLS on a daily basis, working summer conferences, and checking perimeter doors to verify they are closed/locked. They also enforce all residence hall policies and community standards and ensure policies are being followed to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students. They maintain daily contact with their RLS and other University departments and staff as necessary. We strongly believe in work-life balance and keeping time for things we love outside our work. WVU offers generous benefits, including: 37.5-hour work week 13 paid holidays ( staff holiday calendar ) 15 annual leave (vacation) days per year or more based on years of service ( employee leave ) 18 sick days per year (for when you’re ill, for when you need time to care for sick family, for your own, or your family’s, regularly scheduled medical appointments. Maintain contact with residence hall, central office, facilities and institutional staff on student and facility issues, in compliance with professional standards and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act. Support University Housing occupancy management efforts through opening and closing of residence halls, and day to day management of hall rosters and assignments, room changes and student check- in/check outs. Weekend work will be required during opening and closing. Proficiently utilize computer and technology for various software including Onity, CBord, Banner, StarRez, Roompact, and Advocate. Manage access through key control; accurately audit all key control logs/files; report all key concerns to facilities and complete billing procedures for key loss and replacement (keys are physical keys or temporary access cards) Direct student resident concerns to appropriate Departmental and University staff. Prepare and run reports, prepare data for building and departmental reports Support facilities assessment of public, reservable and residential space; submit work orders and communicate directly with facilities and central staff on issues; follow up on residential concerns in support of resident occupancy SUMMER OPERATIONAL SUPPORT: During summer sessions, work directly in support of Summer Conferences or projects from Central office and/or Residence Life. Summer operational support may include check in/check out of conferences, daily desk management, Summer Orientation programs, and/or facilitated projects in support of operations and programs. Summer operational support can include support in different buildings or separate assigned workspaces. Performs a variety of clerical tasks for central staff, Residence Life Specialists (and other Departmental staff as deemed appropriate) e.g. filing, copying, typing, word processing, inventory, supply orders, scheduling appointments with students. Supervise and train student workers assigned to main desk in support of Desk Manager duties Maintain inventory of all desk supplies, first aid, and recreation equipment; Order replacement/repairs as necessary through Central Office; Participate in on-going staff training and development as deemed necessary by supervisor. Facilitate intake of student packages and mail; insure securing of packages and student notification of mail and packages.
