Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Novelis has approximately 13,000 employees in 32 operating facilities on 4 continents.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities & Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Novelis in Bay Minette has an exciting opportuntity for a Lead Automation Engineer. The incumbent for this position designs, develops, configures, and implements automated systems and processes to improve efficiency and productivity by automating machinery processes. A successful incumbent will analyze existing systems, identify areas for improvement, and create innovative solutions using advanced technologies and programming languages. They will also lead and participate in projects of moderate to high complexity or risk to design, modify, upgrade, maintain, or troubleshoot plant manufacturing equipment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Designs, develops, programs, simulates, and tests automated machinery to streamline manufacturing processes.</li>\n <li>Uses design techniques to build automated systems such as: measurement functions, control functions, and actuators, etc.</li>\n <li>Considers automation workflow, production layout, and safety measures when designing automated machinery processes.</li>\n <li>Drafts and designs detailed documentation for design specifications and additional relevant documents. Adheres to international and local regulatory standards for design, process, and safety considerations.</li>\n <li>Develops and defines control system applications for various machinery and equipment using technologies or platforms such as ladder logic programming for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), data control systems (DCSs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), computerized numerical control (CNC) systems or motion control technology.</li>\n <li>Audits current equipment and automated processes to determine failure rates.
