In addition to providing comprehensive medical care, Teen Health Connection works to promote healthy lifestyle and behavioral choices through community-based prevention and health education programs. Program initiatives include pregnancy prevention; substance abuse prevention (Teen Advisory Board/Youth Drug Free Coalition); and the Empower: Teen Leadership Summit. A variety of parenting classes are offered free of charge to help parents raise responsible teens.&nbsp;</i></p>\n<p>Mission: To improve the health of adolescents by providing adolescent medicine and behavioral health services, education, advocacy, leadership development, and research through connections among adolescents, parents, and the community.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Vision: To empower every adolescent to be health, safe and successful.</p>\n<p><strong>LPNs eligible to apply.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>This position will be cross trained to work in clinic for our other specialty programs: Center for Disordered Eating, Gender Health and Teens, and Tots programs.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Primary Purpose</strong></p>\n<p>Responsible for assisting the physician and/or Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP) with patient care, patient intake at office visit, documentation, vaccine and medication administration, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Assists with appointment scheduling and maintaining medical record.</p>\n<p><strong>Major Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric population of patients, as pertinent to the scope of the specialty of the office setting.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Pre-visit planning with provider and care team.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Follows the patient intake/rooming work in place at the practice.</li>\n <li>May include medication administration, including injections.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Check vital signs, height, and weight.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>May assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication list.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>&nbsp;May assist with satisfaction of pertinent health maintenance requirements.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order or provider order.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Utilizes standard precautions, complies with CHS Policies; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards; Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations; and The Joint Commission (TJC), Division of Facility Services (DFS), and other Regulatory Agency standards as applicable to the practice.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Reports patient's condition and reaction to the provider following procedures, medication administration, or treatments.&nbsp;· Assists with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization as needed.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Participates in electronic documentation of care at the direction of the provider.</li>\n <li>Completes CLIA approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards. Performs Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care in-office lab procedures, as applicable.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Performs venipuncture. May be required to assist with collection of specimens of body fluids such as urine and blood for laboratory testing. Completes lab requisitions and prepares specimens for pick-up.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Responsible for monitoring inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment specific to the practice setting.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ensures that all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, and that the provider is presented with all test results.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Job Requirements</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Education</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school graduate or equivalent required.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required. Must maintain current certification.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Must possess one of the following:</p>\n<p>a) Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.</p>\n<p>b) Intermediate EMT or Paramedic Program with 3 years prior clinical experience required.</p>\n<p>c) Structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214.</p>\n<p>d) Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing.</p>\n<p>e) 3 years on the job training and successful completion of CHS Medical Group approved competency assessment.</p>\n<p><strong>Certification / License</strong></p>\n<p>Recognized/certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations:&nbsp;</p>\n<ul>\n <li>American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)</li>\n <li>National HealthCareer Association (NHA)&nbsp;</li>\n <li>National Healthcare Worker’s Association (NHCWA)&nbsp;</li>\n <li>National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)&nbsp;</li>\n <li>American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT)</li>\n <li>National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions</strong></p>\n<p>Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Must speak, read, and write Basic English fluently. Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch.
