Director of Crisis Response Program
$1000 Sign on Bonus
The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges; those who have suffered a trauma; and those at risk, to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Director of Crisis Response Program who demonstrates this mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference in the community.
What you will be doing? The Director of the Crisis Response Program provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Crisis Programs, including a Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) and Crisis Line. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, trauma-informed, and person-centered crisis intervention services across the service area, in alignment with state and federal guidelines, national best practices, and accrediting bodies. The Director collaborates with community partners, law enforcement, emergency services, and healthcare providers, to coordinate effective responses to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises.
This position oversees program development, staff supervision, quality assurance, and compliance with regulatory and funding requirements, including Medicaid and state contracts. The Director also leads continuous improvement efforts, data monitoring, and outcome evaluation to enhance service delivery and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations or justice system involvement. Emphasis is placed on equity, accessibility, and culturally responsive care.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Oversight of Crisis Programs, including Mobile Crisis Response Team and Crisis Line
• Provide leadership, training and guidance for staff development and client services
• Maintain programs to assure that all aspects of each service comply with all applicable Federal, State and accreditation standards
• Daily oversight of services and program management
• Manage program budgets
• Track data and complete timely reports
• Seek out funding resources to maintain and grow in the provision of services
• Promote and help guide all Crisis and Outreach Services
• Key contributor to the Crisis and Outreach team and the agency as a whole.
• Maintain excellent and punctual attendance while maintaining professional judgement and performance regardless of personal issues.
• Recruit, interview and hire qualified staff and ensure staff maintain required training and education requirements including staff evaluations.
• Assure 24-hour quality services & coverage of programs including providing on-call supervision for individual crisis programs and back up supervision.
• Manage and motivate paid staff and volunteers by teaching professional skills, providing administrative supervision, encouraging professional development, providing clinical supervision and acting as a role model.
• Assure clients are provided services in a timely manner and provide recovery-focused, active treatment including following program guidelines while maintaining client rights and choices.
• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all agency, state, federal, and certifying bodies’ guidelines and requirements including program design/implementation, staffing, training, etc.
• Employee promotes awareness and respect for the diversity of our clients, employees, families and other stakeholders through collaboration, educational opportunities, new funding sources, and development of new programs and partnerships.
• Oversee coordination of referrals from community agencies, law enforcement, and court system.
• Abide by AID’s Code of Ethics, policies and procedures
• Provide supervision, direction, oversight and feedback to program staff and management.
• Ensures program operation is in accordance with funder/agency requirements and oversees quality program implementation.

Qualifications
Education: QMHP eligibility required, Master’s Degree in Human Services +/or Emergency Mgmt. preferred
License/certifications: CADC/ LPHA/ LCPC/ LCSW preferred
Experience: Minimum of 4 years behavioral health field experience, Minimum of 2 years crisis intervention experience, Minimum of 2 years supervision experience
Physical:
• Able to negotiate stairs, Stand and walk for longer periods of time.
• Meet Agency eligibility requirements and/or drives self, clients, personal and/or agency vehicles
Equipment:
• Proficient in the use of general business equipment including Computers, Calculators, Copy Machines and Telephones with a voice mail system
Additional Requirements:
• Must acquire and maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, Non-violent crisis intervention training, CEU’s and other relevant trainings
• 24-hour availability with flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Flexibility to work evenings/weekend hours
• Attend in-service trainings, as required
• Use of employee personal automobile
• Valid Illinois Driver's license and good driving record as defined by AID driver eligibility requirements
• Minimum amount of automobile liability insurance as defined by AID’s personnel policies
• Transport clients in personal and or agency vehicle
