    "description": "<p><strong>Position Title:</strong>&#160;Adjunct Instructor of Spanish&#160;</p>\n\n<p><strong>Hours Per Week:</strong> 3 to 20 (up to 9 credit hours of class time)</p>\n\n<p><strong>Closing Date:&#160;</strong>Open until filled</p>\n\n<p><strong>Job Type:&#160;</strong>Part-time faculty appointment with one semester teaching contract</p>\n\n<p><strong>Internal Job Category:&#160;</strong>Adjunct Faculty</p>\n\n<p><strong>Position Purpose:&#160;</strong>Cumberland University&#8217;s Oakley School for the Humanities,&#160;Education and&#160;the Arts is seeking applicants demonstrating successful and active professional&#160;practice, knowledge of oral and written Spanish, ability to tailor&#160;lesson plans to students, course and program planning, and excellence&#160;in the creation and teaching of appropriate assignments for Spanish&#160;language learners at an undergraduate level.<strong> </strong>This position will enhance&#160;program strength, course offerings, and student opportunities in&#160;the school under the supervision of the Dean. Successful candidate will&#160;show ability to design and assess curriculum plans that foster&#160;rigorous student learning and engagement while enhancing the necessary&#160;skills required in adult learners in the field of Spanish.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Must be able to communicate well with students and other faculty members</li>\n\t<li>Demonstrate a strong understanding of concepts in the Spanish language and various cultural aspects</li>\n\t<li>Be proficient in both oral and written Spanish</li>\n\t<li>Engage in class and student assessment while maintaining all necessary paperwork and records based on school requirements</li>\n\t<li>Evidence of high level of personal agency and initiative</li>\n\t<li>Demonstrate organizational skills for curriculum management and program design including analysis of data for continuous improvement</li>\n\t<li>Possess ability to contribute positively to a dynamic setting with collaborative faculty</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Two or more years teaching experience in Spanish</li>\n\t<li>Documentation of successful experience as an undergraduate professor or post-secondary teacher and preferable to have leadership experiences and displayed work in the field</li>\n\t<li>Experience and networking in the Middle Tennessee region preferred but not necessary</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Education:&#160;</strong>Ph.D. preferred by MA accepted</p>\n\n<p><strong>Additional Information:&#160;</strong></p>\n\n<p>Completed application will include:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Letter of interest, including description of approach to teaching painting in an undergraduate liberal arts college</li>\n\t<li>Updated and detailed curriculum vitae</li>\n\t<li>Names and contact information of three professional references (letters of recommendation are requested once finalists are chosen)</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>Cumberland University is a teaching-focused and student-centered bachelor&#8217;s&#160;and master&#8217;s level university.
