    "description": "<p>Department: Aquatics</p>\n<p>Reports To: Aquatic Manager</p>\n<p>FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt</p>\n<p>Effective Date: 09/2023</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">GENERAL PURPOSE:</span></p>\n<p>Supervise the pool area, ensuring safety rules and regulations and the enjoyment of pool participants. Serve as an ambassador for Belton Parks &amp; Recreation/High Blue greeting customers with a cheerful and positive attitude and tending to customer needs. </p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></p>\n<p>The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by the individual in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities.  Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties as assigned.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations.</li>\n<li>Warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards</li>\n<li>Rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aid.</li>\n<li>Notify the Head Lifeguard or Lead Lifeguard of any accidents, rescues, or problems that have arisen.</li>\n<li>Report to the Head Lifeguard and or Aquatic Manager/Assistant Manager any equipment that needs repair.</li>\n<li>Successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics.</li>\n<li>Adherence to Belton Parks &amp; Recreation/High Blue Wellness Center expectations, encompassing communication, working relations, job reliability and initiative, safety, accomplishment of work tasks, and supervision deck clean and equipment stored in a neat fashion.</li>\n<li>Be consistently alert and professional while on duty.</li>\n<li>Communicate in an effective and professional manner to both enforce rules and answer questions.</li>\n<li>Answer inquiries pertaining to the use of the pool.</li>\n<li>Direct all helpful suggestions from participants and others to your direct supervisor.</li>\n<li>Attending scheduled monthly in-service training.</li>\n<li>Provide periodic supervision and custodial needs of locker rooms.</li>\n<li>Serve as ambassador of Belton Parks &amp; Recreation/High Blue Wellness Center and engage with the public in a respectful, professional, and positive manner.</li>\n<li>Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Head Guard and or Aquatics Manager/Assistant Manager of the Belton Parks &amp; Recreation Department.</li>\n<li>Assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related areas of the facilities.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to provide individual assistance to members and guests as needed.</li>\n<li>Ability to ensure safe use of equipment and safe activities for all guests and members in the Aquatics Center.</li>\n<li>Ability to respond appropriately to both emergency and nonemergency situations should they arise.</li>\n<li>Ability to assist in maintaining all Aquatic Center Equipment</li>\n<li>Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner to both enforce rules and answer questions.</li>\n<li>Able to work 10-28 hours per week.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education and Experience:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid</li>\n<li>American Red Cross Bloodborne Pathogens Training.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</li>\n<li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.</li>\n<li>The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, equipment, or controls.</li>\n<li>The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.</li>\n<li>The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.</li>\n<li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.</li>\n<li>Must maintain a physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include working closely with others, high levels of public contact, and irregular working hours.</li>\n<li>Able to swim 300 yards with rhythmic breathing and without stopping.</li>\n<li>Timed swim to retrieve a 10lb training brick, swim back to the wall on your back holding the brick with both hands.</li>\n<li>Two-minute treading in water.</li>\n</ul>",
