Come work where you play—and help us inspire healthier, happier lives for everyone!</em> </p>\n<p><em> </em> </p>\n<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensures the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, providing leadership to lifeguards and other facility staff at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center as well as the outdoor beaches located at Shawnee Mission Park and/or Kill Creek Park.</li>\n <li>Supervise lifeguard staff during scheduled shifts including lifeguard rotations, cleaning the facility, use of appropriate chemicals, training of facility staff and ensure daily facility checklists are completed.</li>\n <li>Assist in the training of lifeguard staff in proper water rescues and CPR/First Aid techniques.</li>\n <li>Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility to prevent accidents or emergency situations.</li>\n <li>Educate and inform patrons of the rules and regulations of the facility.</li>\n <li>Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; respond quickly to all emergencies and administer first aid as needed.</li>\n <li>Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary facility.</li>\n <li>Communicate with the lifeguard team and facility staff for additional assistance in an emergency.</li>\n <li>Provide quality customer service for our patrons.</li>\n <li>Complete and submit all appropriate daily paperwork during assigned shifts.</li>\n <li>Attend all in-service training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.</li>\n <li>Maintain good physical condition and strong job-related skills.</li>\n <li>Perform all other related as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><em>Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.  Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.</em></strong> </p>\n<h2>Job Requirements</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum age is 16 years and older.</li>\n <li>American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with Waterfront and First Aid, CPR & AED Certification required.</li>\n <li>Previous experience in peer management/supervision or ability to demonstrate related skills set.</li>\n <li>Strong communication and customer service skills along with the ability to work with individuals of all ages.</li>\n <li>Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.</li>\n <li>Ability to maintain good physical condition and maintain professional skills of safety, alertness, responsibility, initiative, good judgment and cleanliness.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>This work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching.</li>\n <li>The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The employee distinguishes between shades of color.</li>\n <li>Employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery, moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and hot, cold or inclement weather.</li>\n <li>The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><em>JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.
