BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. Across our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.
The Center for Achieving Future Education (CAFÉ) is a FREE college program that assists young people and their families with a potentially critical life stage: the transition from high school and/or HSE completion to college. For over 10 years our mission has been to help young people and their families with the college application and financial aid process as well as work diligently to ensure that our youth are ready for college beyond matriculation by providing various support and guidance while enrolled in school.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of (1) year administrative experience or experience in social services, education or college settings. Demonstrate ability to monitor, document and report program outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing direct administrative and retention support to Center for Achieving Future Education Program participants Providing direct administrative and retention support to Center for Achieving Future Education Program participants with the goal of students achieving a three-year graduation rate. Track students enrolled in 2-year and 4-year colleges. Provide data on semester retention: Associate's degree Completion in 3 Years Bachelor's Degree Completion in 4 to 5 Years Monitor enrollment, dismissal, and attendance data for middle school and high school components on Agency database Assist program with scheduling and securing high school and college tours and fairs for program participants Maintain accurate and detailed record of program invoices, order forms and memberships through Nexonia system. Manage program petty cash and distribute incentives (i.e., metro cards, gift cards, etc.) Provide coverage for middle school, college and other program trips, workshops & events. Report to and meet with supervisor on a monthly basis. Complete program reports monthly, or more frequently as required Attend training, both internal and external, promoting college access and success. Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in Monthly program meetings Support summer enrichment programming Demonstrate ability to successfully work in fast paced and performance driven environment Engage and monitor follow-up participants to ensure milestone/goal attainment (College matriculation and retention)
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Good Writing skills Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods. Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required, and to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork. Ability to bend and retrieve objects and or documents Ability to travel to the adjacent borough of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation. Ability to travel a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and field work.
