Description
Mission is located on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō Peoples, specifically on Leq’á:mel, Semá:th, Máthexwi, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, and Katzie traditional territories in the lower mainland of BC. Nestled on the southern coastal mountain slopes overlooking the lush Fraser River Valley, Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic community of approximately 41,500 residents, 20 kilometers north of the US border and 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. Although Mission is part of a broader metropolitan area, it still maintains its distinct and welcoming small-town flavor.
The City of Mission’s Information Technology division is seeking an analytical problem-solver with excellent communication and troubleshooting skills to join our team as a full-time Network Analyst.
You will perform a variety of complex analytical and technical administration and support tasks relating to network hardware and software installations for the City’s computer system. You will install, configure and maintain a variety of network infrastructure components including servers, desktop computers, printers and assorted peripheral network communication and related software and hardware devices. You will also provide network support for hardware and software installations and investigate, document, analyze and resolve network hardware and software failures or performance concerns. You will maintain performance level of all hardware and software components of the system, including error log monitoring, performance tuning, disk space management and operating system interface and perform network administration tasks related to firewalls, routers and switches, VPN’s and network security.
You must have considerable knowledge of networks, network components, communications and delivery options including wired/wireless technologies such as 802.1x, fiber optic, SD-WAN, VPN and their inter-relationships as well as a thorough understanding of the operation of computer hardware, software and networks and their relationship to the client group. You will have the ability to install, configure and maintain computer software, hardware and networks in an analytical and logical manner and the ability to analyze and resolve a variety of computer system problems and concerns.
You will have completed a two-year diploma in computer sciences (or a related discipline) at a technical institute, university or college and have a minimum of three years’ experience in a progressively responsible support role functioning in a complex environment. You must have experience with server and storage virtualizations technologies such as Nutanix and Cohesity, experience with configuration of Firewalls, VPNs and VOIP systems and experience with Linux Server Administration. Microsoft Azure Administration certification is necessary and Fortinet NSE4+ certification would be a definite asset. The ability to obtain and maintain RCMP Secret Security Clearance is mandatory as is a Class 5 BC driver’s license.
The 2025 hourly rate for this full-time CUPE position is $46.01 plus a comprehensive benefits package including the Municipal Pension Plan. We also offer a 9-day fortnight schedule (extended hours for nine days and one day off every two weeks).
