Description

Fleet Support Engineer (Fielding) At PMAT, we work on mission critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose. In this role, you’ll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense. About the role: PMAT is seeking an experienced and dynamic Fleet Support Engineer to support the delivery of advanced information warfare capabilities to our Naval, Joint, and Coalition warfighters. This role contributes to operational training and exercise support to ensure shipboard and command staffs are trained and ready to employ emerging capabilities in support of Project objectives. The candidate will leverage engineering knowledge to support Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) operations across Fleet Experimentation (FLEX), Fleet Reps and Sets, Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2), and lab and operational demonstrations. The role supports cross-functional teams to integrate emerging technologies at U.S. Navy Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs), aboard naval vessels, and across other naval commands, while enhancing coordination across NAVWAR program offices, Fleet elements, and Joint Forces. The candidate will also coordinate with existing teams to enable holistic naval models that inform future network architecture design with Naval and Joint Forces. Responsibilities: Support systems engineering execution on complex technical programs by coordinating requirements, interfaces, and integration activities across stakeholders to enable successful delivery of fielded and planned capabilities. Assist with software architecture and requirements-driven design efforts by translating operational and technical needs into clear documentation that supports development, testing, and implementation workflows. Maintain and update architecture documentation and tracking for fielded and programmed capabilities by managing version control, documenting interfaces, and ensuring artifacts remain accurate and audit-ready. Support System of Systems (SoS) integration efforts by identifying dependencies, coordinating interface management, and assisting with troubleshooting and issue resolution across interconnected systems. Provide technical support for shipboard networks and systems engineering activities by contributing to integration, configuration, and troubleshooting efforts within ACS, CANES, and related naval environments, as applicable. Coordinate cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and IT specialists to integrate emerging technologies at Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs), aboard naval vessels, and across other naval commands in support of program objectives. Contribute to the development and execution of training programs for future fleet systems by supporting training planning, delivery, and documentation to ensure shipboard and command personnel are proficient in fielded operational capabilities. About Us: PMAT is an innovative small business founded with a passion for developing forward-leaning solutions from exceptional people that increase the mission's capability. We focus on designing and building impactful digital solutions that utilize modern cloud, data, and software concepts. Our passion is working on complex and progressive challenges such as edge platform computing, containerizing legacy platforms, distributed data platforms, or heterogeneous data analysis. We recruit, retain, and foster a team motivated to pursue passions, investigate new ways of doing things, and embody an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. We believe in being curious about every element of a problem and experiment relentlessly. We foster continuous learning in an environment that encourages positive collaboration and expands our capabilities. We tap into collective intelligence, acknowledging that the most brilliant people may not be in the room.  Above all else, we believe that delivering and demonstrating is more potent than a sheet of paper.  We are passionate about mission-centric design and delivering effective capabilities to and for the warfighter. Whether you’re an experienced engineer or just beginning your career, you’ll work alongside experts who are committed to solving mission-critical problems. If you’re passionate about using your skills to make a real difference, apply today and become part of a team that’s shaping the future of defense technology! Required Skills and Experience: Experience supporting systems engineering efforts on complex technical programs. Understanding of software architecture, requirements-driven design, and development/testing processes. Experience assisting with architecture documentation and tracking of fielded and planned capabilities. Familiarity with enterprise or system-of-systems concepts and interface management. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integration and delivery objectives. Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and supporting stakeholder coordination. Preferred Skills and Experience: Technical experience with ACS (Afloat Core Services) and U.S. Navy shipboard networks and systems engineering. Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering, with a proven ability to design, integrate, and troubleshoot complex System of Systems (SoS) architectures within a naval context. In-depth technical knowledge of shipboard networks, including Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) and its associated components. Strong understanding of modern digital ecosystems and their application within a military framework. Experience with the Navy's digital transformation initiatives, including Project Overmatch, and their impact on fleet capabilities is crucial. Proven ability to operate effectively within the Navy's chain of command and enhance cross-functional coordination across diverse organizations, including NAVWAR program offices, Fleet elements, and Joint Forces. Contribute to the development and execution of training programs for future fleet systems, ensuring shipboard and command personnel are proficient in the operational capabilities being fielded in support of Project Overmatch. Cross-Functional Team Support: Support cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and IT specialists to successfully integrate emerging technologies at U.S. Navy’s Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs), naval vessels, and other naval commands in support of multiple Overmatch related efforts.
