Pioneers Medical Center is focused on improving health outcomes for patients. Pharmacists at PMC put their training to use in improving patient care. The Staff Pharmacist provides accurate, safe, efficient, and optimized medication therapy management. Pharmaceutical care services are a valued part of patient care at Pioneers Medical Center. &nbsp;</span></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES</strong></p><ul><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Provides accurate, efficient, and appropriate pharmaceutical care services to patients by properly interpreting prescribers&rsquo; medication orders.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Reviews patient medical and pharmaceutical records to monitor for efficient drug therapy, drug interactions, potential adverse drug events, contraindications, and allergies.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Communicates directly with both prescribers and patients regarding questions concerning drug therapy and counseling points.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Maintains an accurate on-hand inventory count for medications.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Abides by record-keeping requirements defined by law, DEA, and the Board of Pharmacy.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Maintain and supervise effective workflow to ensure the cleanliness of the department and the accuracy of medication order interpretation and prescription dispensing.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Obtains and maintains current certification required by the department to ensure abilities to deliver specialized services, such as Basic Life Support, Body Substance Control Measures, Hazardous Substance Procedures, Mass Casualty Plan, etc.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Develops and demonstrates a commitment to the self-directed development of clinical pharmacy practice under guidelines of the departmental staff development programs through the identification of personal education goals and objectives.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Maintains current knowledge of State and Federal statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents; conducts personal practice as defined by those requirements.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Abides by all rules of the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Maintains active Colorado State Pharmacist license.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Performs other duties as assigned.</span></li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED</strong></p><ul><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">The ability to initiate interpretive skills when required to communicate effectively with non-English speakers and the hearing impaired. &nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Ability to communicate effectively by telephone and text.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Specific knowledge of pharmaceuticals, pharmacy practices required to fill patient medication orders, and in conducting examinations concerning the proper storage and usage of drugs.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Must have the ability to respectfully handle stressful situations.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Must be able to manage and train pharmacy technicians.</span></li></ul><p><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\"><br></span></p><p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED</strong></p><ul><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">A degree in Pharmacy and State licensure to practice pharmacy and to dispense controlled substances; authorized or qualified for authorization as a preceptor of student interns in Pharmacy as described by the State Board of Pharmacy.</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">It is preferred that all incumbents possess an advanced degree (PharmD or MS) or equivalent clinical practice experience. Completion of a general or specialized residency is also preferred. Authorization to be a preceptor requires two years of practice as a Pharmacist.</span></li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>WORKING ENVIRONMENT</strong></p><ul><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Fast-paced retail pharmacy environment in a new facility. &nbsp;</span></li><li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">The pharmacy is located inside a state-of-the-art critical access hospital.</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p><p>Stretching, bending, turning, climbing on a step stool, and lifting boxes 25lbs is required. Coordinating physical movement to retrieve medications and transport them to various stations is required. The ability to stand for long periods of time is required.
