Collect and process specimens using appropriate technique. Perform testing and verify assay/analyzer performance. Responsible for testing in any of the following areas: hematology, coagulation, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis and transfusion medicine. Document and communicate laboratory test results thoroughly and accurately. Perform and document assay/analyzer maintenance.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Responsibilities include:</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Responsible to proper specimen collection and handling, blood and non-blood specimens</li><li>Responsible for following processing specimens and ordering laboratory testing</li><li>Performs analytical testing according to policies, procedures and federal regulations including OSHA, COLA, CLIA, and HIPAA</li><li>Evaluates results for accuracy and resolves complex test problems</li><li>Provides results in LIS and over the phone</li><li>Performs and documents routine and advanced instrument maintenance and quality control; takes appropriate remedial action</li><li>Ensures appropriate record keeping and retention</li><li>Stocks, rotates and requests supplies on a regular basis</li><li>Participates in the development of technical procedures, forms, miscellaneous documents, method validation, and implementation of new technologies</li><li>Maintains safety, education and competency requirements</li><li>CLIA defined responsibilities</li><li>May have oversight as a key operator of a work area and participates in the development of technical procedures, forms, misc.</li><li>Responsible for acquiring and maintaining CPR certification</li><li>DOT certification may be required</li><li>Trains students and new employees</li><li>Other duties may be assigned</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:.5in;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Knowledge in laboratory tests and specimen requirements</li><li>Knowledge of laboratory equipment and how to operate</li><li>Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and safety guidelines</li><li>Skill in basic laboratory techniques</li><li>Skill in verbal and written communication</li><li>Skill in computer functions</li><li>Ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions</li><li>Ability to follow written and verbal guidelines to obtain specimens and perform procedures/testing</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Physical Requirements for the Role:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs</li><li>Ability to stand for prolonged periods, frequently bend/stoop and walking, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)</li><li>Repetitive motion including but not limited to computer keyboarding</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><p><br></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Associate degree in a lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution</li><li>Possess or is eligible to receive appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT).
